Van Jones Claims Trump Signed Earth’s Death Warrant

Now that the ObamaCare repeal is off the table, at least in the near future, the left has to find other things to whine about.

Politicians have set their sights, near term, on the upcoming supreme Court vote. The Senate leadership wants Judge Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s pick for the high court, to be confirmed prior to Easter recess.

Oops. Was I allowed to say “Easter?” It is probably a trigger word.

While Democrat politicians are wrapped up in trying to derail the Gorsuch confirmation, other leftists (and there are plenty to go around) are focused on Trump’s recent Executive Order (EO) to put an end to Obama’s worthless “Clean Power Plan.”

Late last week, our old buddy, the self-avowed communist, Van Jones, wrote a piece for CNN entitled, “Trump may have signed Earth’s death warrant.”

Yes – with the stroke of his presidential pen, Donald Trump signed Earth’s death warrant. That sounds reasonable. Nothing hyperbolic about that declaration. read more

Podcast – 1-2-3-4 – I Declare a Twitter War

The Trump team is engaged in a Twitter war with members of the House Freedom Caucus. The President and his team are not taking kindly to the loss regarding RyanCare and have begun a war of words with Rep. Justin Amash of the Freedom Caucus.

This, in my opinion, is an ill-advised move on both sides.

I discuss the ins and outs of the so-called war and how counterproductive it is for both sides. read more

One Simple Instruction Could End ObamaCare

by: the Common Constitutionalist

On Wednesday, Erick Erickson of the Resurgent  reminded some of us and revealed for the first time to the rest, a way that President Trump could single-handedly end ObamaCare.

And what did Mr. Erickson reveal? Well, it was a pay-off to Members of both Houses and their staffs. One of which few knew or reported.

You may recall, after ObamaCare passed, many “connected” crony corporatists and Unions received waivers, effectively exempting them from the onerous bill the rest of were being forced to live with. They all knew how bad it was from the start. We all read reports of well over 1,000 waivers handed out.

Still, The Hill wrote in 2015 that, “according to Section 1512 of the law [ObamaCare], legislators and staff ‘lose the employer contribution’ that covers most of the cost of coverage. The amendment passed by Congress specifically requires that Members and their staff give up their generous Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan (FEHB) health benefits and, instead, purchase their health insurance through ObamaCare exchanges. In essence, Congress was required by law to be treated like any other citizen who lost the individual market insurance they liked.” read more

I Never Thought I Would Say This, but I Love the EPA

Needless to say I was really disappointed at the roll out and outcome of the Republican ObamaCare “fix.” And I’m sure I’m not the only one. So much so, that I went in search of some good news.

Son of a gun if I didn’t find some. It’s doubly good because it not only benefits us and America, but is driving the left batty. And it’s one of my hot button issues. Wins all around!

The Huffington Post somberly posted an article yesterday entitled, “Donald Trump Is About To Undo Obama’s Legacy On Climate Change.” From the left’s point of view, the subtitle, “The White House plans to scrap a rule on power plant emissions, kneecapping U.S. participation in the Paris climate accord,” is equally sobering. Ain’t it grand!

It’s funny, but it seems that left to do the things he is able to on his own, President Trump already has a good track record. Things go off the rails when the establishment wing of Congress gets involved, like RINOCare.

Now I’m certainly not advocating for Trump usurping the Legislative branch like the last guy did – I’m just stating the obvious. read more

Shouldn’t Ryan’s Healthcare Failure be About Us?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

No Audio Version

Can we get a little perspective on the epic RINOCare fail? By perspective, I mean, exactly who it really harms.

There is a one word answer to the question of who it harms, and it doesn’t start with ‘T’. The word actually begins with ‘U’ – as in Us! Yet watching the weekend cable news broadcasts, there has been nary a word mentioned about the harm Paul Ryan’s phony “repeal and replace” bill has caused us – the Americans who voted for these bums.

We the “silent majority,” who, over the past few election cycles, have decided to not be so silent – to make our wishes known to these politicians. In return for our votes they have made promises.

Beginning in 2010, Republicans began an unbroken string of passing clean repeal bills. They’ve asked for our help to build majorities and WE made it happen. We even elected an “outsider” from the business community to aid in our quest to roll back government and rid us of ObamaCare. And for all our trouble – for all our hard work and heavy lifting, it is WE who have been stabbed in the back by Ryan and the establishment.

However, to historically reliable cables news outlets like Fox, it is like we don’t exist. It seems as if it is now all about politics – not people – not voters and taxpayers. read more

Podcast – Chuck Schumer Goes Off On Republicans Over RINOCare

Today I discuss Senate Minority Leader Chuckie Schumer, who had some choice words for President Trump, Speaker Ryan and the Republicans over their failed plan on Friday.

He complained that the GOP never even approached him regarding fixing ObamaCare. Instead they just froze out the dems and tried to go it alone – and failed. He’s says he’s not happy about it, but we know that’s a laugh. The dems are thrilled.

I explain that ObamaCare was written to fail, and that any effort by the Republicans to “fix” it, will be useless. It must be repealed in full. read more

Phase One Goes Down in Flames

I’ve been watching the tube (that’s a television, for all you younger readers) and listening to the radio, collecting reaction to the Ryan health insurance proposal. The Democrats aside – it seems there was strong support for the bill.

The establishment Republicans were all on board, as well as die hard Trump supporters.

Then there were the House Freedom Caucus members, who were firmly against it. The most vocal Senate opponents were the usual suspects and real conservatives, Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul. Count me in their camp.

Not surprisingly, virtually everyone on a certain cable news channel supported the Ryan bill – not for Ryan’s sake, but because president Trump was on board. What I did find a little surprising and a bit disturbing is that the majority of conservative radio talkers were also for the bill. Check that. They weren’t backing Ryan and the bill. They appeared to be on board in defense of Trump’s decision to support it. To me this seems misguided and frankly sycophantic.

I still hold that president Trump was sold a bill of goods by Republicans. Sure, he’s a smart guy, but even smart guys can be fooled. read more

Cinco de Mayo – More Like Cinco de Cancelled

The great refrain of the left, the establishment right, and anyone who does not understand human nature and dynamism, has been: “What are you going to do – deport all 11 million illegals?”

Yes we’ve heard it for years. Funny how the 11 million number never changes. But anyway.

The question they all ask is set up to be rhetorical – like it‘s not really a question. To the small minds on the left and the defeatists of the right, it is rhetorical. Of course we won’t and/or can’t round them all up. Therefore the only other choice is to let them all stay.

It, as the smart people say, is a binary choice. There is no other option. And then along comes president Trump.

Now I don’t know if Trump is student of history or not, but what he is doing, or rather authorizing, is beginning to already pay dividends. Many news outlets on both sides of the political spectrum are reporting illegals getting the message that the new sheriff will round you up like so much cattle and run you back across the border.

Of course this is not the administration’s stated policy, but who cares. The press’s misinformation campaign appears to be working. And if you are a staunch anti-illegal immigration advocate like me, you’re as happy to see this as am I. And it just keeps getting better. read more

Podcast – Trump Must End Ridiculous CAFE Standards

As he promised, Trump and his administration will seek to roll back Obama recently enacted auto fuel efficiency standards. Obama, in his want to drive the auto industry into ruin as he attempted to do to the energy industry, firmed up CAFE rules just one week before Trump took office.

But so-called experts claim that it will be difficult, if not impossible to roll back Obama’s regulatory rules. Of course it, because that’s how they write them. Make it easy to institute and impossible to rescind.

I hope Trump can pull this off, but the so-called experts aren’t very hopeful. read more

It’s Time Someone Slapped Down the Rogue Federal Courts

by: the Common Constitutionalist

On Wednesday, at a rally in Nashville, president Trump proclaimed that, “A judge has just blocked our Executive Order on travel and refugees coming into our country from certain countries….We’re going to fight this terrible ruling. We’re going to take our case as far as it needs to go including all the way up to the supreme Court. The danger is clear – the law is clear – the need for my Executive order is clear…”

Trump has now been blocked multiple times by lower court judges.

So what does he or anyone intend to do about it? It appears he intends to fight this all way to the high court – or should I say, the black-robed legislators. And then what?

This is how far we’ve strayed from the Constitution and the design of the federal judicial branch’s authority. All on the right are wailing about the courts clearly overstepping their bounds, but from what I’ve heard and seen thus far, no one has offered a solution. read more
