Leftist Politics Clash with the Fitness of the Children

Liberals are supposed to be all about the children and children’s health. We’re constantly bombarded with ads telling us to get the kids out of the house and get some exercise – run around.

The NFL sponsors a Play60 program, where they encourage children of all ages to get out play football and other physical activities. They even have a program called Fuel Up to Play 60, where they partner with schools.

According to cdc.gov/healthyschools:

“Physical activity is vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life. … helping to achieve and maintain a healthy weight… building strong bones and muscles… improving cardiovascular fitness. Children and adolescents should have 60 minutes (1 hour) or more of physical activity daily. Aerobic: Most of the 60 or more minutes a day should be either moderate- or vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity and should include vigorous-intensity physical activity at least 3 days a week.”

School districts across the country understand the importance of physical fitness, for the betterment of the children.

That is until their leftist politics clash with the interests of “the children.” read more

Students Disagree, then Agree on Wedding Cake Ruling

Campus Reform recently sent one of their people out to troll the streets of Washington DC. He asked college-aged passers-by their thoughts on the supreme Court decision allowing the Colorado baker to refuse to bake a wedding cake for a homosexual couple. Should the baker be forced to bake the cake. He asked: “Do you agree or disagree with that ruling?”

The responses started out as we would expect. They all disagreed. But then he threw in a couple of curve ball questions and things got a bit more muddled. Shockingly, the responses were not all bad.

Lesbian Couple Harassed over Wedding Cake Incident

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Can you believe it? It’s been three years since Aaron & Melissa Klein landed in hot water over the lesbian wedding cake incident.

As you may recall, and how could anyone not, the Kleins, owners of Sweet Cakes bakery in Gresham Oregon, were charged with discriminating against a lesbian couple who wished for them to make a wedding cake.

The Kleins declined on religious grounds – but as we know, religion has no place in liberal Oregon (except Islam, I’m sure). For their impertinence, they were forced to pay $135,000 for “emotional damages” in 2015 and subsequently closing their store.

At the time, many reported it as an innocent lesbian couple who just happened to wander into Sweet Cakes and ask for a wedding cake. To that, the client stated that they don’t serve same-sex couples. This is of course, total crapola! What actually happened was: “When Rachel and Laurel arrived at sweet cakes they met with Aaron, who asked: ‘What are the names of the bride and groom?’ ‘It’s two brides,’ Rachel told him cheerfully. ‘I think we may have wasted your time,’ said Klein. ‘We don’t do same-sex weddings.’”

The now “legally” married lesbian couple did not just wander in. They targeted the Kleins, knowing, or at least suspecting, what the outcome would be, due to the Klein’s Christian beliefs. read more

Is Just Being a Normal American Not Enough Anymore?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

A few years ago an article was posted entitled, “The Problem With Average Not Being Good Enough.”

The author, Brianna Wiest, attempted to explain the current human condition of many young people. Although she never explicitly stated it regarded young adults, I surmised it must be so being that she spoke of college and other concerns that millennials and generation whatever follows appear to have.

The article was a bit confusing at times but the gist was that unapologetically being yourself and not particularly special is not a bad thing. In other words (I think) one does not have to bow to social pressure or strive to be exceptional just to be noticed – that being “average” is not so bad.

While I disagreed with a lot of her “average is good enough,” assuming I understood the new age speak, her premise, whether she knows it or not, is quite prescient, but not in the way she thinks. read more

Christianity Under Assault Worldwide

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Conservative geeks like me, and a lot of you, listen to our fair share of talk radio. Often times commercials during these various radio broadcasts repeat, either several times during the same program, or the sponsor will purchase ads on a number of conservative talk shows.

One such ad which has been repeated lately is for the purchase of precious metals, like gold and silver. The commercial informs us that country X has purchased several hundred tons of gold and that investment bank Y recently bought 1 million ounces of silver. The inference is that if they are buying precious metals, shouldn’t you also? What do they know that we don’t and why aren’t we being told?

Precious metals have historically been purchased as a hedge against inflation or when the “fit hits the shan.” Preppers have long advocated the ownership of some gold and/or silver as a source of barter if there is an economic collapse – or the government comes-a-calling and decides it wants what you have. Maybe the government decides their desire is so great that they simple seize your assets, like your bank accounts?

Maybe it doesn’t need to be an end-of-the-world scenario for a government to do such a thing. Maybe they just don’t like you. Maybe it’s that you’re just too religious – too Christian. It could be that you have been caught up in a phony trumped up scheme of discrimination against a homosexual couple, for which you simply refused to make a wedding cake. read more

Our Federal Government Is Discriminatory

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Federal Express (FedEx) was simply following federal law. But a surviving spouse disagrees.

A homosexual (lesbian) couple lived together for many years. One of them was employed by FedEx. She was with the company for 26 years where she accumulated a decent pension. The couple was together for about the same amount of time.

In 2010 the FedEx employee was diagnosed with cancer and in 2012 “ the cancer had grown so severe that she took a medical leave of absence from work. As one of her last acts on Earth, Lesly Taboada-Hall married Stacey Schuett in a California civil ceremony officiated by a county supervisor. Taboada-Hall died the next day.”

Problems arose when the survivor Schuett petitioned for her partners FedEx pension benefits. See, Taboada-Hall died six days before United States v. Windsor, the Supreme Court decision that struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law by Hillary Clinton’s husband. read more

Podcast – Jeb Loses a Mega Donor – Children’s Book Pulled From Book Fair

In this episode I discuss the further implosion of Jeb Bush, as his campaign appears to be sinking fast. A huge money donor has pulled his support for poor old Jeb and will now back Marco Rubio.

The Superintendent of Arborwood Elementary School did the right thing by pulling a book from a child book fair, after consulting with a Parent-Teacher group, over potentially offensive material. read more

In this episode I discuss that despite another school shooting, the left still feel it’s getting enough traction. Lefty Ezra Klein, of VOX.com thinks Marco Rubio will be the eventual nominee and a married homosexual couple gets a divorce – but not for the reason you may think. read more

Is the Pope, like Barack, Trying to Change Tradition and History?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

What would you think if Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and former President Jimmy Carter all came out and proclaimed their love for Ted Cruz? Would you think – Wow – three out-of-control leftists love Ted Cruz. Maybe they’ve seen the light? That’s great news! They must’ve seen the error of their ways and come over to our side.

Of course not! These three are committed leftists. What you should be thinking is what the heck happened to the poster boy of conservatism, Cruz.

So when we see Jane Fonda, Jim Carrey, Bill Maher, Russell Crowe and John Stewart tweeting that you, “Gotta love new Pope – He cares about the poor – Unlike U.S. Congress…,” or, “He’s changing the tone of the way you regard the Pope,” or, “That’s it – I’m converting – I love this guy,” you have to know these people are not going to convert to Catholicism. We also must conclude there is something not quite right (literally) with Pope Francis.

None of these lefties have seen the light and suddenly found religion, so it leaves us with but one sad conclusion. The Pope is no conservative – and I don’t mean politically.

Yet we can’t put politics aside when the leader of the Catholic Church is a redistributionist and a global warming nut. I’m sorry to all you Catholics, but facts are facts. I know this will not win me many friends, but you have to admit – there is something not quite right.

Now, not being a Catholic, I cannot speak to the tenets of the religion, but it certainly appears to me that Pope Francis is treating Catholic traditions and doctrine the way Obama treats our Constitution and laws. He appears to just be making wholesale changes to centuries of tradition. To what end, I do not know. read more
