Podcast – The Sugar Tax – A Study of Cartoon Dialect

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The city of Seattle Washington has just instituted a massive tax on sugary beverages that is already hitting consumers hard. The tax is almost doubling the cost of sugary drinks. Consumers and small businesses are upset by it, but matters not to the Nanny State politicians and egg heads who are doing this for our own good.

Two academics have taken it upon themselves to study the dialects of childrens’ cartoon characters, and have found something both startling and apparently disturbing. Virtually all good guys (and girls) portrayed in cartoons have American accents, but villains are predominantly represented with English accents. This, they say, is a problem, because, as we know, Americans, particularly white Americans, are not supposed to be the good guys. read more

Video Podcast – Civility on Campus is Racist

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Two professors at the University of Northern Iowa have theorized that being civil in college classrooms is a form of racism and that such behavior reinforces “white racial power.”

The two also claim that attempting to “treat everyone the same” is a way to “erase racial identity.” They call this Caucasian dysfunction, “whiteness informed civility,” which according to the professors is also a form of racism.

The bottom line appears, at least to these two, to be that being uncivil to persons of color is racist, and being civil is also.

So what is a white college student to do? By the way – both these professors appear to be white. read more

What if someday, I decide I’m sick of the grind. I’m tried of working and earning a living. I just want to be taken care of. Heck, at this point I’m even too lazy to go to the welfare office and fill out all that paperwork in order to collect free stuff. I’m just done with all the responsibility of being a societal human.

May I then self identify as some sort of unique zoo animal? What animal? I don’t know – I’m questioning. But I will get a place to sleep, three squares a day, and my very own habitat to stretch my legs, should I desire. I mean – why the heck not? Of course this sounds completely ridiculous, or it would have maybe a decade or so ago. Now, I’m thinking it doesn’t sound that far-fetched.

After all, we humans are now able to run the gamut of self-identification. It started simply enough. We were male or female. But that was too simplistic. Then we expanded to heterosexual and homosexual. Still not good enough. If you are a homosexual female you’re not just homosexual, but lesbian. And because homosexual developed a negative connotation, it was changed to gay. I guess because homosexual men are also happy people. I don’t know.

Still, this did not define us all, so the acronym LGBT was coined. A person could comfortably identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. However, some in our society still felt left out – and we sure can’t have that. So the letter scramble continues, giving us the most inclusive acronym to date – LGBTTQQIP2SAA. read more

WND Exclusive – I’m White — Through no Fault of my Own

Talk about a great gig if you can get it. Being able to quit your day job and travel around the country, getting paid good money for bashing your own race. It’s possible you don’t even have to really believe it, as long as it sounds sincere and sufficiently vitriolic.

Not many have been afforded this opportunity. The only one I am aware of is Dr. Robin DiAngelo. She has a Ph.D. in Multicultural Education and was a lecturer at her alma mater, the University of Washington in Seattle. She is also white. However, it appears she feels quite guilty about this.

Now she receives invitations to speak at colleges by organizations such as the Public Affairs Alliance for Communities of Color at the University of Texas at Austin. read more

Ben Carson Needs to Straighten out HUD

It appears that the leftist group, ThinkProgress, is not happy with a certain U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia, Richard Leon.

So upset that they posted a lengthy article this past Friday entitled, “This federal judge keeps delaying a case to give Ben Carson time to kill civil rights protections.”

Leftists know that Carson, Trump’s Director of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is no fan of government intervention and overreach, and they are worried that he may scale back the abuses of the previous administration. Naturally they didn’t describe it this way. They, like all leftists, believe government has every right and full authority to tell us how to live our lives.

In the “Implementation of the Fair Housing Act’s Discriminatory Effects Standard; Final Rule” (15 February, 2013), Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended (Fair Housing Act or Act), prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, or financing of dwellings and in other housing-related activities on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin.”

Yet, “Even today, many racial minorities and people with disabilities still face discrimination in the housing market, according to the Urban Institute,” writes ThinkProgress. read more

Just Let the NLRB Run the NFL

Recall that President Trump said, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners,” wondered the president, “when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b**** off the field right now, out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’”

I said that no owner would have the stones to stand up to political correctness like that. I thought they’d be too cowardly to do it, even though at least a few are probably thinking it.

Well, I was wrong and Trump was right. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones came out and said practically that. He said earlier this week if a player disrespects the flag and national anthem by not standing, then the player will not play.

And sure enough, fans loved it. Even I, a Jerry Jones hater, loved it. But the players and the Players Union were not quite as fond of the Cowboys owner’s exhortation.

“Local 100 of the United Labor Unions filed a complaint against the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, alleging owner and general manager Jerry Jones has violated the National Labor Relations Act by threatening players if they choose not to stand for the national anthem,” writes ESPN. read more

Dove Finds Mixing Business and Race Dangerous

On April 22, 1800, Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to William Hamilton. Within the letter was the famous quote: “I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. During the whole of the last war, which was trying enough, I never deserted a friend because he had taken an opposite side…”

The quote referred to Jefferson’s travel to Philadelphia to take the Vice Presidential oath of office on March 4, 1797. He said that many had come by to congratulate him – but many friends and acquaintances did not, owing only to political differences.

Yet as bad as Jefferson thought it was then, it is far worse today. These days, differences in religion and political views can get one hurt or worse. And it’s not just individuals. Sports teams and businesses are finding out that it’s better to steer clear of the caustic mix of business with politics.

However some corporations are wading in, trying mostly to curry favor with the socially progressive left. They are attempting to capitalize on what is today thought to be trendy. But they are discovering how dangerous it can be from both sides of the political spectrum.

Target stores took a major hit from the right when they announced their transgender bathroom and dressing room policy. And now Unilever, the makers of Dove products, are seeing a socially-conscious ad campaign backfire big time with leftists. read more

Video Podcast – Enough with NFL Social Justice

by: the Common Constitutionalist

At this point, NFL players, coaches, owners and executives deserve to be bashed by fans – including the President. You brought this on yourselves with your phony virtue signaling and hand-wringing.

America is the greatest country on Earth and this country and all your fans have afforded you the opportunity to play a GAME for a very good living. Now you want to bite off the hands that feed you and call it unity.

Well, we’re not buying what you’re selling. And it’s evident from the ratings and stock prices of the networks which broadcast your games. None of us go to games, or watch football to be preached at by the likes of you. Protest on your own time. When you hit the field, just shut up and play. read more

The NFL has Allowed a Lawless Precedent to be Set

The NFL social justice protest crap is completely phony. It’s the same virtue signaling we see from leftists all over the world. And at this point, the silly grade school stunt is solely being driven by peer-pressure.

If you’re black and don’t protest, you’re an Uncle Tom. You’re not down with the struggle. If you’re white and don’t participate, or at least sympathize with those who do – you’re a racist Trump supporter. These are the only two boxes available to be checked.

So what are these geniuses protesting anyway? Colin Kaepernick, the NFL originator, began kneeling to protest police brutality. Standing up to police brutality has been adopted and included in the list of demands of the 10 page extortion memo drafted by four players to the league.

May I ask where these players have been? Is police brutality a new thing ushered in over the last few years? No it is not. It’s no bigger a problem than it ever was.

And how do I know this? I know this because if it were, leftist news sites like CNN would be falling all over themselves to report it. read more

Maxine Waters Thinks Ben Carson is a Fool

California Representative Maxine Waters once again proves what an imbecile she really is, as she once again denigrates HUD Secretary Ben Carson. Does she have any idea of where Carson came from – that he came from dirt-poor stock to rise up on his own, to become the success he is today? Evidently not.

from the Blaze:

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) continued her mockery of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson while speaking to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Town Hall on Civil Rights Thursday.

What did she say?

“Look at Ben Carson. My God. My grandmother would call him an educated fool,” she said. read more
