Government Reopens – They Win – We Lose

from Conservative Review:

Trump announces short-term deal to reopen government with no wall funding. What’s his plan?

On Friday afternoon, President Donald Trump announced an agreement between Republicans and Democrats in Congress to temporarily reopen the government without funding for a border wall.

Trump said he would sign a continuing resolution to fund the government at current levels for a few weeks without the additional $5.7 billion he’s requested as a down payment to construct parts of the border wall. He alluded to the legal authority to declare a national emergency to build the wall without new appropriations from Congress but indicated that he will not take that action today. read more

MLK and Many Black Leaders were Republicans

At the beginning of the week, I wrote, in honor of MLK Day, that Dr. King undoubtedly supported a secure Southern border. You Image result for MLK was Republicanmay review it here.

Unsurprisingly, I got a little flack for it from a few on the left.

Yet I don’t know why it’s so surprising. It’s no more a revelation than that Dr. King was a Republican. According to his niece, Dr. Alveda King, MLK was Republican.

This should be a surprise to no one who knows the unvarnished history of America – who advocated for black Americans and who didn’t.

Somehow history has been rewritten. Check that. We know how. I believe it can be traced back to the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., for before that time, most blacks were Republicans, and for good reason.

But we’ve been taught that the Democrats are the party of civil rights, of minority empowerment and Republicans are racists. It’s irrefutable! read more

Don’t Believe the Left Concerning Dr. King’s Stance on Immigration

Yesterday was a day of remembrance for all Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did to advance the cause of racial equality in America.

Unfortunately, over the years his message of unity has been hijacked by the radical left. So much so that a white conservative is no longer even allowed to quote his words verbatim without being pilloried by the media and leftist activists.

Take, for example what Vive President Mike Pence said on MLK day. When speaking of border security, Pence quoted a single line from King. “…now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.” He dovetailed that sentiment into a call to democrats to, “Come to the table in a spirit of good faith. We’ll secure our border, we’ll reopen our government.”

This simple quote sparked a visceral reaction from the left including King’s son, Martin Luther King III. read more

WND Exclusive – Is the American Experiment About to Implode?

from Brent Smith for World Net Daily:

Although it is often overused by us on the right – I’m thankful to be an American. It sounds cheesy and jingoistic. It may be, but

that doesn’t make it any less true, particularly when you know American history and what our forefathers had to go through to achieve it. And no, this will not be a history lesson. Not much of one anyway.

I wish I could travel back in time, not to change anything, but just to thank the founders for what they did, to thank them for their foresight. I’d like to assure them that they did the right thing, that they didn’t go through all that for nothing, that hundreds of years later we are still talking about it, still quoting them and trying to live their ideal. read more

Eminent Domain Attorneys Being Hired by Justice Department

from the Daily Caller:

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT IS HIRING LAWYERS TO TAKE ON PROPERTY SEIZURES FOR TRUMP BORDER WALL

In a strong indication the Trump administration is preparing for the next phase of the immigration battle, the Department of Justice is now hiring lawyers to handle border wall litigation in South Texas.

The two attorney positions — which are advertised to pay between $53,062 and $138,790 — are to be based in the southern Texas towns of Brownsville and McAllen. Preferred candidates are to have “at least four (4) years of civil litigation experience in litigation of land condemnation cases, oil and gas disputes, and real estate matters,” according to the posting on USAJobs, adding that knowledge of the Spanish language “is helpful, but not required.” read more

Video Podcast Replay – A Personal Experience of Illegal Immigration

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, there will be no new podcast, Please accept my apologies.

But as the border and illegal immigration is still on everyone’s mind because of the dreaded shutdown, and rather than leave you with nothing, I’m offering up one more popular podcasts I recorded early last year.

I took a trip recently and experienced something astounding. While driving between two major Northeast cities I was scanning the FM radio dial. I noticed something rather odd.

First that there was literally no country stations within this metro corridor. And second, that it seemed that almost 50% of all the stations played Latin music and Spanish speaking DJ’s.

Then there was the rather lengthy commercial, where the two DJ’s described free legal services for illegal immigrants as well discussing their rights. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

Wasserman Schultz Distances Herself from Women’s March

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the “committed” Jew who supported Obama’s Iran deal, now is distancing herself from the

anti-Semitic Women’s march. Sounds sincere.

from the Daily Caller:

DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ DISOWNS WOMEN’S MARCH LEADERS FOR BACKING ‘PEDDLERS OF HATE’

Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida condemned leaders of the Women’s March Friday for failing to “repudiate anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry.” read more

Open Carry Senator

State Senator Open Carries Gun After Colleague ‘Swarmed’ By Immigration Activists

What a Virginia state senator chose to wear and how she chose to wear it to a committee meeting on Tuesday has earned national attention.

A day after Capitol Police were called to the scene when a Republican was “swarmed” by pro-immigration activists angered by his anti-“sanctuary cities” bill, first-term State Sen. Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield) decided it was a good time to not just conceal carry, as she often does, but open carry — as a “deterrent for over-exuberant folks.” read more

Three Political Philosophies that Don’t Work

On January 3, 2019, Fox News commentator, Tucker Carlson took to the airwaves. His 15 minute monologue created quite a stir amongst both the left and right.

It caused enough of a stir that everyone from New York Times opinion columnist, Ross Douthat, to National Review’s David French weighed in on it.

Please review Douthat’s column here, and French’s here.

Putting aside Carlson’s comments regarding Mitt Romney’s excoriating of Donald Trump – Tucker makes some good and not-so-good points, as do those who critiqued him.

Tongue-in-cheek, Carlson says that, “The overriding goal for America is more prosperity, meaning cheaper consumer goods. But is that still true?”

Well, for most, that’s never been true. He correctly explains that Americans just want to be happy, satisfied and fulfilled with, “Dignity. Purpose. Self-control. Independence. Above all, deep relationships with other people.” read more
