Does Jim Carrey Really Care about the Children?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We all know that actor Jim Carrey is a typical Hollywood liberal. He supports all the typical liberal causes as well as leftist politicians. In 2008, in praise of newly elected Barack Obama, Carrey said: “It’s amazing to see the difference in one day after he was elected… We’ve been doing everything in our power in the last eight years to make [other countries] dislike us. We’ve completely discounted other people for the last eight years and I think this is a sign to them that we understand that they’re there and that we have to play ball with everybody.”

Carrey is anti-gun, of course buys in completely to the man-made global warming hoax and naturally hates Fox News, which he calls Fux News. Being a good Hollywood liberal he undoubtedly supports all liberal politicians and most likely did so of Gov. Moonbeam, Jerry Brown.

But now he has a major beef with the Governor, since Brown just “signed into law one of the nation’s strictest immunization laws… which strikes down personal belief exemptions for immunization and requires all school-age children to be vaccinated by kindergarten and then again by seventh grade.”

The law was a typical knee-jerk reaction to a major measles outbreak in Disneyland last year.

Now, one would think, if one were to give it any thought at all, which liberals never do, that Carrey would be all for this. After all, knee-jerk, reactionary policy is the trademark of liberalism. I’m sure if this were a reactionary gun law, he’d be all for it. read more

Transitioning Double (or Triple) Standard

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Although it seems much longer, the saga of Bruce Jenner transitioning to a woman has been all over – has permeated the news, sports, entertainment, politics and even a certain Republican’s campaign, with Lindsey Graham saying he would like Jenner’s vote.

Personally, I was tired of hearing about it on the very first day.

Now, this may seem a bit off topic but it’s not. Bruce Jenner may claim to be anyone or anything he likes, but a woman he isn’t. As far as I know his male organs are still intact. If one is serious about this, he would have had them permanently removed already. If Jenner is what he and the fawning public say he is, would he not have already had the procedure? Is he even planning to do it? That’s still won’t magically make him a female, but at least we’ll know he’s committed (or should be).

Yet according to most, we are to consider him a woman. The country praises him for the courage to publicly reveal and share with us his brave deed to live his/her life honestly.

Yet there is another, who has not received the same loving adulation. Her name is Rachel Dolezal, president of the Spokane Washington chapter of the NAACP. The problem is that she is evidently white – just pretending to be black – unlike Jenner who is definitely NOT pretending and is 100% a woman. read more

Stop Complaining Leftists – It’s Your Own Fault

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Just like almost all of Hollywood and 99.8% of the music industry, it seems the radio DJs that spin the records (pardon the ancient vernacular) are also majority liberal. I’m sure it’s an industry thing.

I will occasionally listen to broadcast music radio in the morning on my way to the office. Most music radio morning drive programs have their local morning show crew, that between songs, discuss trivial current events like the Kardashian’s, or now Bruce Jenner. Nothing of substance – just junk catering to the pop culture, low information crowd.

Yesterday, the morning personalities on a Boston rock station were discussing the black family members who were arrested for cheering on their graduating children in Mississippi. Evidently the school rule was to hold all applause until the end of the ceremony. I get that – many schools have this rule.

I assume it’s to keep the ceremony moving along, but it also has a “feel-good” liberal element to it. You see, we wouldn’t want to upset the little children who have no one to cheer for them.

Anyway, charges were filed against the families by the superintendent of public schools. Well, the local radio personalities were beside themselves over this incident. Although, surprisingly no racial component was brought up at the time, the radio folks thought this was positively Hitlerian, to arrest someone over that. read more

Cuban Normalization Is Business As Usual

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We all remember earlier this year when we heard that Obama was reaching out to Cuba – starting talks to normalize relations and lifting trade and travel restrictions.

At first blush most thought this was rather odd, but just maybe our government knew more of the Cuban situation then did we. Just maybe, with the passing of the leadership torch from Fidel to his brother Raul, things would be different. Maybe Cuba has seen the folly of communist rule and is ready to lead its people into the 21st century – to become good neighbors and partners with the United States.

Maybe it is true that America and Cuba could start anew, which Obama himself called “a new beginning.”

At an April meeting in Panama, Obama addressed leaders of various nations from Central and South America, including Cuba, where he exclaimed : “I believe our governments together have an obligation to uphold the universal freedoms and rights of all our citizens. The voices of our citizens must be heard. I just want to make very clear that when we speak out on something like human rights, it’s not because we think we are perfect but it is because we think the idea of not jailing people if they disagree with you is the right idea.”

In an effort to let the past be the past, Obama said that “the United States will not be imprisoned by the past – we’re looking to the future. I’m not interested in having battles that frankly started before I was born.” read more

A Peek Behind the Green Curtain

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I am pro-environment. Yes, I favor a clean environment – an environment of honesty and truth, where useful idiot protesters are told why they are sent out to protest against one industry or another. An environment where their shadowy benefactors come clean about their real intentions. An environment where bogus funds, set up as front groups, are forced to publicly proclaim where their backing really originates. I’m for that clean environment.

Dozens if not hundreds of these sham environmentalist groups have popped up out of nowhere over the years, yet when the curtain is pulled back on any and all, we see that it’s the same cabal of leftist billionaires that fund them. And none of these ultra rich “philanthropists” give to these groups publicly or out of the goodness of their hearts or to “save the planet.”

So what do these rich and powerful people want? Why, more power and more wealth. I guess billions just aren’t enough these days.

Of course, a lot of these so-called grassroots groups are set up solely to advance the push for green energy and thus protest against conventional energy, like coal, oil and gas. Yet very few of the actual protesters know that “green” groups like the Sea Change Foundation are funded by billionaire Wall Street tycoons who are in tight with the Obama administration and benefit financially from his war on conventional energy. read more

Amtrak Derailment Is Just Another Good Crisis

by: the Common Constitutionalist

An Amtrak train derails killing seven so far and injuring hundreds more. Frankly it’s a miracle more weren’t killed. Some are in critical condition and may still die from their injuries, but still, it’s a minor miracle.

Evidently the train was traveling in excess of 100 mph. “The speed limit is 70 mph just before the curve and 50 mph along the curve itself,” the Federal Railroad Administration said. Amtrak inspected the stretch of track on Tuesday, just hours before the accident, and found no defects.

Although there have been track and equipment failures in the past – some might call these things “infrastructure” – it’s pretty rare. Actually, train accidents are pretty rare, regardless of the cause. Including this one, there have been six train accidents thus far in 2015, and exactly none had anything to do with equipment or “infrastructure.”

In January a prison bus was struck by a train in Texas. There were two in February: a Metro North train hit a car and a derailment in California caused by hitting a vehicle on the tracks. There were two in March: an Amtrak train hit a tractor-trailer in North Carolina and a Los Angeles Expo-line train collided with two cars. Then of course there is this latest horrific derailment that appears so far to be driver error.

Five out of the six train accidents this year were caused by idiots in vehicles parked across the tracks and the other at least so far appears to be the fault of the driver. read more

Climate Change & Hollywood

Hollywood and global-warming panic have always been a natural match. After all, who can tell you better to cut back on your wasteful ways better than a high-flying multi-millionaire movie star with the carbon footprint of a Tyrannosaurus Rex?

It’s never mattered that the stars have all the scientific expertise of Pee Wee Herman. They’re just so good-looking and famous, who cares? PBS broadcast a ten-hour series in 1990 entitled Race to Save the Planet. The show’s host was Meryl Streep, who proclaimed: “By the year 2000…the Earth’s climate will be warmer than it’s been in over 100,000 years. If we don’t do something, there will be enormous calamities in a very short time.” read more

We Sure Do Love Diversity in America

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Diversity sure is great. And what’s so great about it is that is so diverse. After all, we’re reminded of it constantly. The president has said that what makes this country great is its diversity. Not our unique form of government – not our freedom of speech or religion, and certainly not are uniquely crafted Constitution or Declaration. No, it’s our diversity.

Of course those who espouse the greatness of diversity don’t really mean it. What they mean is ethnicity. Evidently were only great because we have a wide variety of skin colors.

Now wouldn’t it sound silly if a politician or pundit exclaimed that we should celebrate skin color, rather than the drivel that they dole out about celebrating diversity. Diversity just sounds better, like renaming abortion to pro-choice, or global warming to climate change.

But what of other countries? We’ve heard that America is no better than other countries – Obama said so. But how does that square with the greatness of diversity? Countries like China, Japan and most Arab nations – these are predominantly homogeneous societies. How can we be no better when our “diversity” is what makes us great? read more

Whites Justify Police Brutality

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Toya Graham is not a hero. She’s a mom. She’s a parent who apparently cares about the safety and growth of her son. Yet many have labeled their hero for caring enough to run after the sun she recognized by the pants he was wearing – slap him around and drag him home.

So why have some labeled her a hero mom? Well, a hero is unusual – defined as a person of distinguished courage, bravery and one of noble quality. I frankly don’t know if she possesses any of these qualities. So although not a hero, in my opinion, Toya appears heroic because in this wusified day and age, her actions are indeed unusual, appearing courageous, and in fact frowned upon by most in today’s society. So much that it has caused consternation among those in the liberal media. And for conservatives, any action that causes the lefts panties to bunch is usually considered courageous, even heroic.

One example of bunched panties is Joan Walsh of Salon.com who writes: “Baltimore’s hero mom has a name. It’s Toya Graham. And the woman lionized nationwide for beating her 16-year-old son on camera, and dragging him away from Monday night’s riots, doesn’t feel at all like hero.”

Graham did admit during an interview on CBS This Morning that she “just lost it.” And what the heck is wrong with that? It’s not as if her 16-year-old son simply played hooky from school for the day. He was out in the middle of a potentially dangerous and uncertain situation. Frankly, if the mom didn’t freak out and “lose it” we should all be suspect of her. read more
