Our Religious Freedom Falls in the Lap of the Supreme Court

The supreme Court is set to begin its next session in October. It has a full docket when it gavels in. Among them are a couple Labor Relations/Arbitration cases, a plethora of immigration/refugee cases, and one which has “not been set for argument” as of yet.

Case No. 16-111 is “Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.”

This case has become a familiar refrain to those who follow this nonsense – like me and all of you. It’s another case of religious freedom vs. the “rights” of homosexuals to demand a curtailment of religious freedom. I wonder what side the Colorado Civil Rights Commission falls on. Gee – I wonder.

In 2012, a happy homosexual couple, Charlie Craig and David Mullins, wished for Masterpiece Cakeshop to craft a wedding cake to commemorate the blessed event. “But Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, declined to make the cake for Mullins and Craig, saying that doing so would violate his religious beliefs. The couple then filed a complaint with Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission, arguing that Phillips’ actions violated the state’s Anti-Discrimination Act, which prohibits businesses from refusing service based on race, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation,” wrote MSNBC

David Mullins said in an interview that, “We’re not trying to shut down Masterpiece Cake Shop. We want Masterpiece Cake shop’s policy toward gays and weddings, gay weddings, to change.” read more

No Rest for the Left in Pushing the Homosexual Agenda

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Will the left not be happy until all the world is Happy and Gay?! Everyday and in every way, homosexuality is being thrust in our faces. It is identity politics on steroids.

For a while there it appeared as if the transgender craze would be the new sensation that would sweep the nation, but the novelty seemed to wane quickly and the fervor for the movement fizzled out. Now we are back to left pushing tried and true, good ole American homosexuality.

It’s gotten so in-your-face that even a local sports show I listen to out of Boston has a token homosexual. This is a program where they talk about the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics. It is supposed to be one of the last bastions of manliness – where blue collar, hard-hat wearing, Mark Wahlberg types (although most probably look more like Larry the Cable Guy) call in and discuss sports – where every other word is “yo” or “dude.” Yet even they feel compelled to have a she-man on the mike. What genius decided this is a good idea?

I guess it is true, what Rush Limbaugh said long ago. Those in sports media tend to be even more liberal than their “news” counterparts. And like their counterparts, they consider the advancement of the liberal agenda more important than the sports they are supposed to be covering. read more

Barney Frank Doesn’t Care for the First Amendment Defense Act

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Former longtime Congressman from Massachusetts and liberal Lioness, Barney Fwank, returned to Capital Hill  on Tuesday to testify against passage of the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA).

I won’t bore you with the minutia of the Bill or all the ridiculous and sadly necessary legalese of the FADA, H.R. 2802, but in a nutshell, the very first sentence says it all. “To prevent discriminatory treatment of any person on the basis of views held with respect to marriage.” Is it just me, or can that be the entire Bill? In fact it does say it all. There is no need for the minutia – the details of what type of discrimination may take place.

No person can be discriminated against, which also means no organization, because they are made up of…persons. But still Congress felt the need to fill the page(s) with examples of potential discriminatory actions and findings. After all, they must justify their existence as lawmakers.

Well, needless to say, the left isn’t happy with the prospect of not being able to wantonly attack anyone who chooses not to tow the LGBT line, so they brought out of moth balls a secret weapon – super genius and homosexual, Barney Frank. read more

We Must Have a Homosexual in Every Movie – at Least One

By: the Common Constitutionalist

Thank heavens for progressive Hollywood. Otherwise how would we know what to think about our culture, particularly the newest chic cause célèbre du jour, which is the LGBT movement?

Actually, let me reconsider that statement. It doesn’t matter what we think. We will be told by our statist overlords what to think, how to feel, what to accept and what and when to celebrate whatever new human right of their choosing. This of course is always done for our own good.

So, sorry Black and Hispanic actors and actresses – you’ve been displaced. Sure you’re people of color and all, but beyond that, you’re as passé as the rest of us heteros. There’s not much more advantage Hollywood can extract from your oppression, so they are moving on to the new frontier (pardon the pun) of jamming the LGBT agenda down the publics’ throat.

Case in point is the latest big-budget installment of the new Star Trek series of movies. Even if you’re not a Star Trek fan of old, you probably know, or would at least recognize, the actor George Takei who played Hikaru Sulu in the original 1960s television show. Takei has made cameo appearances in numerous television shows – the most recent of note is The Big Bang Theory. read more

Lesbian Couple Harassed over Wedding Cake Incident

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Can you believe it? It’s been three years since Aaron & Melissa Klein landed in hot water over the lesbian wedding cake incident.

As you may recall, and how could anyone not, the Kleins, owners of Sweet Cakes bakery in Gresham Oregon, were charged with discriminating against a lesbian couple who wished for them to make a wedding cake.

The Kleins declined on religious grounds – but as we know, religion has no place in liberal Oregon (except Islam, I’m sure). For their impertinence, they were forced to pay $135,000 for “emotional damages” in 2015 and subsequently closing their store.

At the time, many reported it as an innocent lesbian couple who just happened to wander into Sweet Cakes and ask for a wedding cake. To that, the client stated that they don’t serve same-sex couples. This is of course, total crapola! What actually happened was: “When Rachel and Laurel arrived at sweet cakes they met with Aaron, who asked: ‘What are the names of the bride and groom?’ ‘It’s two brides,’ Rachel told him cheerfully. ‘I think we may have wasted your time,’ said Klein. ‘We don’t do same-sex weddings.’”

The now “legally” married lesbian couple did not just wander in. They targeted the Kleins, knowing, or at least suspecting, what the outcome would be, due to the Klein’s Christian beliefs. read more

Obama’s gay national monument

Congratulations, America – we now have our first homosexual national monument. While America and the world are all caught up in the drama that is Brexit, Obama has declared a gay bar in Greenwich Village, NYC, a national monument under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service.

Yep – tearing down our society one brick at a time.

The Stonewall Inn was a homosexual hangout in the ’60s. In 1969 police raided the joint, and riots ensued. From then on it has become known as the birthplace of the homosexual movement – as there was no LGBTQ back then. They were just cross-dressers and didn’t spend their time “questioning.” read more

Researchers Don’t Like When Girls Play Disney Princesses

by: the Common Constitutionalist

As my regular readers know, I’m a big fan of Teen Vogue. Oh, that’s news to you? Well, it’s news to me also. I actually was not aware of the teen version of the women’s magazine/website Vogue. I’m not surprised, but was just unaware.

So why bring it up? Well, they have an article which tries to convince its young, impressionable female readers that, “Playing Disney Princesses Is Bad For Kids.”

Actually, it’s not really about kids. As you’ll see from the article, they don’t really give a crap about the boys, except to turn them into girls.

The article states that experts are now claiming that playing Disney Princess “could have a dark impact on you, whether you realize it or not, according to a new study. Researchers from Brigham Young University found that Disney’s ‘princess culture’ encourages gendered behavior in young kids.” read more

The Irony of Christian Crosses at an LGBT Memorial

by: the Common Constitutionalist

And the beat goes on. It seems everyday since the horrific terrorist killings in Orlando, there has been some kind of vigil, remembrance, gathering, or memorial service. I don’t get it. I was going to say I understand it, but I don’t.

Now for all you hyper-caring individuals who think this is great, heartwarming and needed – you’re wrong. You’ve celebrated their lives and mourned their deaths for a solid week and there appears to be no sign of a let up.

It’s not that I don’t care. Of course I care – and I feel for those who have lost loved ones, but (there’s always a but) it’s like attending a week long funeral. The refrain is always the same from those who show up to these events. I wanted to show my solidarity for the LGBT community or some such thing. Okay – you’ve done that – time to move on.

Evidently not.

And so it was over just this past weekend, when a man, Greg Zanis, showed up in Orlando with 49 crosses  he made from donated materials. The 3-foot tall crosses were all painted white and adorned with a red heart and the name of each victim. read more

Night Club Terrorist – Angry American or Radical Ramadan Jihadist?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

UPDATE: Eyewitness inside the night club says there was a guy trying to hold the exit doors closed to prevent people from escaping.  This is yet to be corroborated.

Those of us who choose not to let our daughters, wives or girlfriends share a bathroom or locker room with some 50 year old hairy guy in a wig named Chuckina are called intolerant, haters and bigots. According to the left, we are the worst of the worst human rights abusers on the planet.

Of course these ignorant fools no nothing of real human rights abuses as they (as do we all) remain cloistered within the relative safety of our country’s borders. It’s easy to picket, bitch, moan, boycott and otherwise take a stand against evil conservatives when the threats to one’s safety is pure fabrication.

The courageous left knows full well that they can yell and scream all they like at the “intolerant” right, and we haters and bigots won’t lift a finger against them. No where on Earth is the LGBT crowd treated better than in America. There is no better place to be if you are homosexual or transgender or any other off-beat “questioning” person. We are the most tolerant.

As we are well aware – the most intolerant and hostile toward this lifestyle are Islamists.

Here in the U.S., we’ve just suffered the largest mass casualty shooting in our history, perpetrated by an Islamist, on the homosexual community, with 50 killed at least 53 injured at an Orlando nightclub which caters to the LGBT crowd.

It wasn’t some crazy Christian, distraught over genderless bathrooms, as the left surely would have hoped. It was a radical Islamist, as anyone with a brain could have guessed. read more
