Podcast – Racist and Wrong Constituents – ICE Sweeps Los Angeles – Cruz Visits Fox and Friends

by Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

New York democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand describes her own constituents – the ones who elected her to the Senate – as racist and wrong regarding gun control and illegal immigration. Funny thing though – she used to have views on both, maybe even to right of President Trump. Now she is the puppet of her master, Chuck Schumer

ICE did an immigration sweep of Los Angeles and netted 100 illegals. Only 100? Hey – gotta start somewhere. California politicians are not happy as their cities and now entire State is an illegal alien sanctuary.

Ted Cruz entered the Lion’s den when he visited what turned out to be a hostile environment on Fox & Friends. The hosts were not happy when he described Trump’s position as being to the left of democrats. Cruz schooled them, but things did go well. read more

All Emotion and No Reason in the Gun Control Argument

from the Daily Bell:

4 Complaints About Gun Owners Debunked

When tragedy strikes it is understandable that people get emotional. But they often forget that the media knows how to pull the heartstrings for nefarious reasons. If a media campaign looks coordinated, it probably is. We should never let the emotions they trigger override our logic, and threaten our safety.

And we shouldn’t let whole groups be punished for the crimes of individuals. Nothing that one person does can justify assaulting or stealing from an entirely different individual. That type of thinking is what leads to violence and prejudice against whole races, religions, and nationalities.

Here are four common knee-jerk reactions gun owners get, and the data to respond.

1. “Nobody Needs a Gun.” read more

To the Left, All Guns are Automatic

from NewsBusters:

Katy Tur Still Doesn’t Know What ‘Semiautomatic’ Means

Every time the term ‘semiautomatic weapon’ hits the mainstream, it’s almost certain that at least one pundit will put their foot in their mouth wile talking about firearms. Thanks to Katy Tur, that trend has continued.

On Thursday, the MSNBC host went on a furious rant about the availability of semiautomatic weapons, presumably arguing in favor of further restrictions on that class of firearm. However, it soon became clear that she was doing what so many others in the media have before her: confusing single-action semiautomatic fire with full auto. Let Ms. Tur serve as a reminder that fake news does not have to be deliberate in order to fit the bill. read more

One Gun the TSA Can Find

It’s the textbook description of the modern day terrorist. White American Female – 19 years of age – long blonde hair – bright blue eyes – classic jihadi.

Really – Diana Durkin, sophomore at Texas Tech University – a terrorist?

Well, that’s what she thought as a TSA official (official dope maybe) pulled her out of line at Houston’s Hobby Airport.

“Oh my gosh, they think I’m a terrorist… Oh my gosh I’m going to jail,” Miss Durkin said she remembered thinking. “I’m just sitting there, almost in tears, like, No, I’m just really dumb, I’m not a terrorist!’”

And why was she flagged? As Diana tweeted: “In the airport screening line and I see someone wearing a Texas Tech hoodie and I look at them and do the gun hand signal because wreck em amiright…tsa is now pulling me aside to talk to me :((” read more

Weapon Wednesday – New Army M-17 Sidearm

The U.S. Army’s new Modular Handgun System has started going out to units in the field, with the first pistols reaching the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in late November. The Army plans to widely distribute the new M17 and M18 pistols to re-equip the force as it retires the 1980s-era M9 pistol. A new video shows the gun’s introduction at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the home of the “Screaming Eagles” of the 101st. read more

Will the Texas Shooting Advance the Confiscation Narrative

Garbage in – garbage out. We see it all the time. It certainly isn’t the machines fault. You can’t blame the computer. In other words – it’s like the old saying, that the equipment is only as good as its operator.

We found this out the hard way on Sunday as Devin Patrick Kelley went on his killing rampage at the Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

It was discovered that Kelley should not have been able to purchase the firearms he used due to a felony domestic assault charge on his wife and her child while serving in the Air Force.

For years leftists have been screaming about background checks. These heinous shootings could be prevented if only we had “common sense” background checks.

However, until this last act, not a single background check of any kind would have prevented any of the mass-shootings. But this one was different. As it turns out a background check may have been able to prevent the Texas murders, or at least made it more difficult for the whack-job Kelley to obtain his weapons.

But as I stated, a background check, like a piece of equipment, is only as good as its operator. In this case the operator was the United States Air Force, and the job was simply to add Kelley’s felony conviction to the federal database, thus preventing him from legally buying guns. read more

What Good is a Dialogue?

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist:

How many times have we heard this repeated, by politicians, pundits, activists, etc.?

“We need to have a dialogue…” – or “we need to have a national discussion…” It’s repeated incessantly from those on the left and the right, in an effort to score cheap political points.

“We need to have a discussion about racism.” “We need a real dialogue about gun control” – as opposed to a fake dialogue. “We need an honest immigration debate.”

These are easy throw-away soundbites. They roll off the tongue, dripping with false empathy.

Yet time after time, we see the irony played out, when someone on the right is willing to put themselves out there and do just that, only to have radicals on the left attempt to shut him or her down.

It happened again just last week, in where else – California. This time anarchists took a break from Berkeley, and assembled at the University of California at Los Angeles. And in the irony of all ironies, they shut down a panel discussion on…wait for it… “civil discourse.” Yes – the “lets have a dialogue” crowd was shut down for trying to “have a dialogue.” read more
