Infinitely-Recyclable Plastics

As useful as it is, plastic isn’t the most environmentally-friendly material. Our constant use of the stuff has seen huge amounts of it lodged in Arctic sea ice, penetrating to the deepest parts of the ocean and even travelling up the food chain. read more

The White Streets of L.A.

from The American Spectator:

Yes, painting streets.

Having just recently extricated myself from the City of Angels after twenty-two years there, I can recite a litany of taxpayer abuses almost reflexively. Big American cities that have been run by liberals for decades never have a second thought about burdening their citizens, often for the most insane, feel-good, liberal reasons.

Very few things scream “nonsensical waste of time and money” like whichever boondoggle Climate Church orthodoxy is forcing upon the public at any given time. read more

Lobsters are the Key To Jellyfish Blooms

Jellyfish blooms are regarded by some as an ecological menace, but they may sound the dinner gong for the commercially valuable Norway lobster. Recently, a team of scientists from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh have photographed the tasty crustacean in the waters off western Norway chowing down on jellyfish carcasses, suggesting that they could form a major part of its diet.

The 25-cm (10-in) Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus), also known as the Dublin Bay prawn, langoustine, or scampi, is the most important commercial crustacean in Europe, responsible for revenues of £78 million (US$105 million) to Scotland alone. They’re remarkably abundant in the north-eastern Atlantic and parts of the Mediterranean, and they’re cheaper than the larger common lobster. Each year 60,000 tonnes of them are hauled in with half taken in British waters. read more

An Ocean Reclaims Part of a City

from the American Spectator:

On a day in which Boston got walloped with 13.5 inches of snow, Mayor Marty Walsh fingered a familiar suspect for the assault upon the city: global warming.

Ignore the moon influencing the tides, the near-hurricane force winds, the foot-plus of snow, or the fact that because of massive land reclamation projects the Shawmut, once synonymous with peninsula, no longer resembles Florida, Baja California, or any other promontory that juts into the water. Global warming did it.

“If anyone wants to question global warming,” hizzoner explained, “just see where those flood zones are.” read more

We’ll be Drowning in Oil!

from Zero Hedge:

Trump Announces Massive Expansion In Offshore Drilling; Environmentalists Outraged

In December 2017, during the twilight days of the previous administration, as one of Barack Obama’s last executive actions the former president formally blocked offshore oil and gas drilling in most of the Atlantic and Arctic Ocean, responding to a call from environmentalists who say the government needs to do more to prevent drilling in environmentally sensitive areas of U.S.-controlled oceans.

The move was not surprising: Obama had been expected to take the action by invoking a provision in a 1953 law that governs Outer Continental Shelf offshore leases, and he did just that to block drilling in federal waters in the Arctic’s Chukchi Sea and most of its Beaufort Sea. He also protected 21 underwater canyons in the Atlantic Ocean from drilling. read more

It’s Moving Day for Santa

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Global warming nuts are at it again, and this time they have attempted to co-opt Christmas, by telling us that Santa is a “Climate Refugee.”

I can think of no better way for radical leftists to celebrate the holiday than to scare the crap out of children. And not just any leftists, but trusted government leftists – because really – if you can’t trust your government to be honest with your kids, who can you trust. Am I right?

“There is no country on the planet that can walk away from the challenge and reality of climate change, And for our part, Canada will continue to fight for the global plan that has a realistic chance of countering it. We have a responsibility to future generations and we will uphold it,” the young and dashing Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, recently, told the United Nations General Assembly.

That September proclamation has now been followed by a warning to the world’s children, as a “Canadian government website claims that Santa Claus is relocating his workshop, elves and reindeer to the South Pole to escape the effects of global warming.” read more

Trump’s EPA is Downsized

from the Washington Beacon:

Hundreds of EPA Employees Have Quit Under Trump

Over 700 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency have quit or taken early retirement during the Trump administration so far, bringing the agency close to employment levels not seen since Reagan.

ThinkProgress, whose senior editor is scared of his plumber who he fears may have voted for Trump, is warning that the exodus will lead to “dirtier air” and “dirtier water.” read more

Natural Underwater Hyperloop

Like straight out of Finding Nemo.

While Elon Musk‘s Hyperloop could one day transport humans hundreds of miles, mother nature has already developed a similar system undersea, researchers have found.

Researchers spotted a bizarre phenomenon they think could ‘suck-up’ small marine creatures and carry them at high speed and for long distances across the ocean.

Known as a ‘smoke ring’,  it is a strange new type of eddie, a swirling motions some tens to hundreds of kilometers across, which mix the water and carry it across the average currents.

Now Bitcoin Causes Global Warming?

from IBD:

The green movement has found many things in modern life that cause global warming, but the latest really left us scratching our heads: Trading Bitcoins. At this point it might be easier to ask, is there anything that doesn’t cause global warming?

No, it’s not a joke. Just about anything these days (Hat tip: The Daily Caller) even remotely connected to civilization, human flourishing and comfort is, we’re told, a “cause” of global warming. It’s a crucial element of the Global Warming religion, which has only waxed even as real religion has waned. read more
