NFL star quarterback Baker Mayfield ripped into the administration at an Ohio high school for dropping valedictorian and salutatorian honors out of sensitivity to students who don’t earn the awards and a concern for the overall “mental health” of students.

“This is so dumb,” said the Cleveland Browns quarterback in a Saturday tweet captioning the news. “You’re telling me competition doesn’t bring out the best in people? If you want something bad enough, work for it.” read more

Microsoft Ventures into Virtue Signaling

Microsoft wants its next generation word processing software, Microsoft Word, to be enlightened. This latest version, dubbed “Ideas in Word,” will use artificial intelligence to make your writing not just grammatically but politically correct. Because as we’ve come to realize, politically correct intelligence is indeed artificial.

“Similar to the program’s current grammar and spellcheck suggestions, Ideas in Word will underline words that appear insensitive in nature,” writes the Blaze.

But it’s more than just being politically correct – more than just an effort not to offend. Don’t we all wish to impress our reader(s), not only with proper grammar and punctuation, but also to demonstrate how educated and enlightened we are? Isn’t that really the most important aspect of the written or spoken word? Not to merely disseminate information, but to show the reader(s) that we care and that you should too.

Microsoft is at a decided disadvantage. Google can decrease the search ranking of right-wing hater websites, Twitter can suspend, temporarily or permanently, accounts they deem offensive. YouTube can demonetize accounts for the same reason and Facebook does essentially the same.

But Word is just a program for writing. So how can it become more woke? read more

New Atlas compares the specs and features of the Google Pixel 3, 3 XL, 3a and 3a XL

Google’s Pixel phones have traditionally been high-end devices, but for the first time the company has launched a pair of mid-range phones – the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. These strip out a few premium features of the current flagships, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, in favor of an easier-to-swallow price tag. But just what do you get and what do you lose? Here, New Atlas compares the specs and features of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL with the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. read more

WND Exclusive – Cory Booker Out-Lefts the Rest on Gun Control

from Brent Smith for World Net Daily:

Another hard-left presidential candidate has announced a number of whacky gun control measures. Cory Booker, former virtue signaling mayor of Newark and boyfriend of radical leftist actress and activist Rosario Dawson, has joined another non-viable candidate, Eric Swalwell, in setting gun control as a major platform agenda.

Swalwell wishes to ban, “hand-held weapons of war. We should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.” He also claims that, “Our courts haven’t found a constitutional right to have assault weapons, anyway.”

Video Podcast – A Thousand Guns in Bel-Air

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

A 57-year-old man identified in court records as the longtime companion of Los Angeles real estate mogul Cynthia Beck was behind bars for several hours overnight after police seized more than 1,000 guns — including some that authorities allege were fully automatic — from a home in Bel-Air.

I discuss Girard Saenz’s gun collection, the fact that he’s a licensed gun dealer and collector and the old gun he owns, how is it a crime to own so many guns, California’s gun laws, the Second Amendment and what caused the authorities to raid the home. read more

The OODA Loop may Save Your Life

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The following is a departure from my normal politically oriented articles, but I think it important, especially these days.

In the video below, Navy SEAL Commander Mark Divine of SEALFIT explains the OODA Loop – Observation – Orientation – Decision – Action, and incorporates it into the Cooper Color System.

The OODA loop is a practiced mindset of constant situational awareness, and the ability to take swift and decisive action from the information collected from that awareness.

This is different from mere paranoia. Situational awareness is more like tactical observation. It’s more than just noticing that there are a bunch of people gathered across the street waiting to cross, or a blue van driving by. It’s more like “Where’s Waldo,” or “one of these things is not like the others.”

Practicing situational awareness can keep you or your loved ones from simply walking out into traffic or prevent you from entering a potentially dangerous or deadly situation or encounter, by merely avoiding it all together.

With practice, one will be able to pick out Waldo fairly quickly – like the guy wearing a trench coat in the middle of summer. And with practice, you’ll find there is almost never a Waldo to find – that everything is the way it’s supposed to be. read more

Bacteria are quickly evolving resistances to antibiotics, to the extent that our best drugs might not work in the terrifyingly-near future. Scientists are hard at work developing new antibiotics, or finding ways to make existing ones more effective. Now, researchers from Thomas Jefferson University have found a new way to weaken bacterial defenses, slowing down the development of antibiotic resistance. read more

Leftist University Rids Itself of the Scourge of Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is now the third largest chain restaurant in the nation, behind only McDonald’s at number one and Starbucks in second. It successfully unseated Subway recently, bumping the sub-shop chain to number four. It has seen a meteoric rise as of late. In 2017, Chick-fil-A was ranked a mere 7th, behind Taco Bell, Burger King and Wendy’s . But the quality of its product and superior staff has pole-vaulted it passed the aforementioned giants.

And its done all this despite constant attacks by the loony left, claiming that the restaurant chain supports “anti-LGBT” causes. These attacks are particularly prevalent on … you guessed it … college campuses.
