Yahoo Report of Iowa Republican is a Case of Half News

There’s some buzz going around that a Republican State Congressman from Iowa recently left the Party and is resigning his seat in the Iowa Congress. That’s true, and the left has picked it up and gleefully run with it.

As I have a Yahoo email address, I get their newsfeed automatically. Yahoo is decidedly leftist, which is why I’ve retained it and read it regularly, as I do CNN, the HuffPo, ThinkProgress, VOX and others. It’s good to stay abreast of what the enemies of liberty are thinking, both abroad and within our own borders.

The July 18th Yahoo article is entitled, “Republican politician quits party over Trump’s ‘erratic and misguided leadership’ following Putin summit.” I thought it interesting, so I read on.

“Ken Rizer, a retired Air Force Pilot, took to Facebook to announce his decision after the US leader met with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki and suggested that he did not believe that Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential election.”

“As for me, I can no longer call myself a Republican given the erratic and misguided leadership of the president. I will always be a (Ronald) Reagan conservative, but find no place for such views in Trump’s world. Until the Republican Party recovers its values, my party affiliation will be ‘No party,’” wrote Rizer. read more

The Left is Deeply Disappointed with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The shine of one of the progressive left’s icons has recently been tarnished. I liked to say that supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may be mellowing with age, but it seems like she has been aged for decades.

However, she did stun a whole lot of nouveau-leftists in her interview  with Yahoo’s resident shrew, Katie Couric.

Many younger liberals have come to call Ginsberg, Notorious RBG, for her stance on abortion and such, but it appears she may have lost the gangsta moniker when the topic turned to something I’m sure Couric and most leftists would consider “safe.”

Katie brought up the Colin Kaepernick, National Anthem flap that so many, including me, have been talking and writing about for many weeks. I don’t know what Couric was expecting to hear, but I can guarantee it wasn’t this.

Couric asked Ginsberg: “How do you feel about 49ers player Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who have basically refused to stand for the National Anthem?” read more

Republicans May Prefer the Devil They Know

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Might the establishment republican power brokers actually prefer Ted Cruz to Donald Trump? The left wing website Yahoo News thinks so.

Could it really be that the country club, French republicans (hat tip – Mark Levin) line up behind the most hated Senator in world history? According to Matt Bai at Yahoo, the republicans may very well decide they prefer “the devil they know to the daredevil they don’t.”

Bai says, “in conversations with a half dozen of the leading Republican strategists and lobbyists this week, it became clear that a solid consensus is forming as to which guy they would rather see get the keys.”

It’s beginning to look like Bai may be right. Heck, even Lindsey Graham, the poster child of the jelly filled center of the party has warmed to Cruz – something I certainly would have never guessed. Graham went from likening the choice between Trump and Cruz as a one between being shot or poisoned, to him saying: “I can’t believe I would say yes, but yes,” to rallying around Cruz. read more

Unequal Justice under the Law

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We all remember the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012. It’s hard to believe it has been over two years. We also recall the shooter, with his Bushmaster 223 rifle and its high capacity magazine – how the gun control wackos came out of the woodwork to call for a national ban on “scary” looking guns and high-capacity magazines. As if that matters.

SheenWhether it’s an AK-47 with a 30 round magazine or a pink Ruger .380 side arm – if either is pointed at you, it’s scary.

Speaking of high-capacity magazines, we might remember the uproar over then Meet the Press host David Gregory’s interview with the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre. It’s the one where Gregory actually brought a scary looking 30 round “high-capacity” magazine onto the set in Washington D.C. to confront Mr. LaPierre.

It’s a wonder anyone on the set survived the incident – you know – because magazines kill people. I’m reminded of the scene in the comedy, Hot Shots-Part Deux, where Charlie Sheen (back when he was still funny), was mowing down the enemy with a belt fed machine gun, and with the enemy still advancing, runs out of ammo. He drops the weapon, bends down, picks up a handful of bullets and throws them at the soldiers, killing them all. Very funny, but quite ridiculous. Kind of like brandishing an empty magazine with no gun. read more
