Power Insists She was not the Only Unmasker

from Constitution.com:

The investigation into the Obama administration’s unmasking of innocent American citizens continues to move forward, but also continues to grow more convoluted. In recent weeks we’ve learned that former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power was responsible for requesting Americans be “unmasked” some 260 different times during her final year in the administration. It’s an odd realization because Power was not leading one of our intelligence agencies, or working in an investigative role, why would she need such highly classified intelligence?

On Tuesday, the lead House investigator, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) who heads the House Intelligence Committee told Fox News that she may not have done it at all. read more

Republicans Final Disappointment on Benghazi

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The latest and final Benghazi report has been issued by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HSPCI) and boy it’s a bombshell. Or is it? And even it is – so what!

USA TODAY reports that, “House Republicans on Tuesday concluded a two-year investigation into the 2012 terror attacks in Benghazi with an 800-page report that blames politically motivated bureaucratic delays for failing to prevent or stop the deadly attacks that claimed four American lives.”

Oh there were bureaucratic delays and failures all right – purposeful – and I still believe that this was never as it was reported by the press, nor in the 800 page HSPCI report. The situation in Benghazi was just too weird to be chalked up to bureaucratic bungling. Early on, I wrote about it here and here.

The Republicans found that “despite President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s clear orders to deploy military assets, nothing was sent to Benghazi, and nothing was en route to Libya at the time the last two Americans were killed almost 8 hours after the attacks began,” writes USA TODAY. read more

Republicans – What Are They Good For

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The Republicans won the election. Everyone on the right is thrilled about being able to depose Harry Reid and stop Obama. Hooray for us!

Now just two weeks later an inevitable and all too predictable reality has set in. The Republicans have begun surrendering before the battle even starts.

Biz Pac Review reported of Trey Gowdy’s (whom I mostly love), appearance on the Bill O’Reilly show Thursday. Gowdy said “Impeaching the president is a really bad idea. Have you met Joe Biden?”

Well no Mr. Gowdy. I have not and I understand that VP Biden has been demonstrably wrong about pretty much everything in his decades of public service. We get that he is a boob, but he’s not Obama and he’s not black. Gowdy claimed that Obama actually wants them (Congress) to pursue impeachment but that he (Gowdy) won’t be taking the bait.

Biz Pac’s tagline for the article was “Damned if we do, and damned if we don’t.” If that’s the case, which it is, why not just do the right thing? Whoever you think is going to hate and resent you will do so anyway.

Okay, so that’s one option off the table. Now to Mitch McConnell, the uncontested new Imperial leader of the Senate (or soon to be). When asked, he once again reiterated, rather gruffly, that they will not be shutting down the federal government and defaulting on the national debt. read more
