Wasn’t John Boehner Just the Greatest

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Over the weekend Yahoo Finance ran a Business Insider piece fawning over now former Speaker of the House John Boehner.

Right off the bat, you have to know where this is going. Yahoo News is a left wing website. Therefore anything they post or allow to be posted will be decidedly left of center – far left.

The Insider quoted some of Boehner’s present and former colleagues. One of which was former Iowa Congressman Tom Latham who said, “He saw a more relaxed Boehner than perhaps ever before. A Boehner who looked like he had nothing left to do.”
“It seemed like,” Latham told Business Insider recently, “he had accomplished everything he had wanted to accomplish.”

Well ain’t that the truth. He accomplished virtually everything on the democrat agenda, while sticking a finger in the eye of those he despised most – the conservatives in his own party. His parting shot of f-you to conservatives was the passage of the new two year budget, which allows the government to deficit spend as much as it wishes, with no restraint – no spending cap – no debt ceiling. Due to this budget, we can expect the debt to easily pass $20 trillion in short order.

In my opinion, this was one of the main reasons Johnny stayed until now. He and others, by their action, have demonstrated they care nothing about the country going forward. Boehner, with the help of democrats, did this out of spite toward conservatives, as if to say, “oh yeah – you want me out – I’ll show you – take this!” It also takes some heat off of incoming establishment Speaker Paul Ryan. Now Ryan won’t have to concern himself with any pesky budget negotiations for two years. You know – the actual job of the House. read more

Cruz Knows Why Boehner is Leaving

Ted Cruz says he knows why John (the town crier) Boehner is retiring. Cruz says Boehner has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund all Barack Obama big spending plans and then get out of town. Actually, not get out of town, being that he’ll just move over to K-Street, to his cushy lobbyist position where he’ll make millions in first year. He is staying until the end of October to see the despicable scheme through. read more

Proud to be a Member of the False Prophet Brigade

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So we, and the conservatives we support, are false prophets. We and our candidates are evidently just “spreading noise.”

At least that’s what outgoing Speaker of the House and head congressional hack, John Boehner thinks. And I’m sure he’s not the only one that thinks this. Every establishment Republican in both the House and Senate thinks as does Boehner.

So rather than exiting quietly like a real man, he instead goes on CNN to whine about conservatives to those who will be “understanding” of the speaker’s plight. Of course they will. They’ll happily have anyone on who will bash conservatives.

Boehner begins by whining about the conservatives wanting to get rid of Obamacare even at the cost of shutting down the government in 2013. He tells the CNN crew that it simply wasn’t going to happen. He says, “this plan never had a chance.”

He then complains that in 2013 over the August recess, his “Republican” colleagues were getting all this pressure from home to repeal Obamacare in what he said was a “fool’s errand.” So really, according to Boehner, it’s all our fault. Us, an evil politicians like Ted Cruz. read more

Podast – Davos World Forum and Netanyahu Speaks to Congress

Today I discuss the Davos World Economic Forum and a couple of their select speakers. It’s not the yawner it sounds like. I also discuss the flap between Netanyahu and Obama – the real reason Obama doesn’t want him here – or anywhere. read more

No Negotiation on Amnesty

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Yesterday, Fox news reported that “The Republican-led House voted Wednesday to overturn president Obama’s immigration actions from last November – and to unravel a directive from 2012 protecting immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children – sending the bill to the Senate where it faces an uncertain fate. The House voted 236-191 to approve the legislation, which funds the Homeland Security Department through the rest of the budget year to the tune of $40 billion. But as part of that bill, Republicans added provisions to gut the president’s immigration directives.”

“We do not take this action lightly, but simply there is no alternative,” House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday. “It’s not a dispute between the parties or even between the branches of our government. This executive overreach is an affront to the rule of law and to the Constitution itself.”

Okay – got all that? So our Republican House voted overwhelmingly to fund the precious Department of Homeland Security. Naturally, we can’t muck about with our security. Not with all the threats of terrorism. And we all know Republicans always fully fund the military and Homeland, because we’re all hawks, we revere the military and want to keep the country safe.

But just because the name has “security” in it, doesn’t mean it must be blindly funded. I bet Homeland could get by just fine on half that, but anyone who dares suggest such a notion would be accused of subverting our security. But I digress. read more

No Love for Mia

By: the Common Constitutionalist

I followed the campaign of freshman Congressman Mia Love over the past few years, although not closely. She seemed to be conservative, not to mention that she is both female and black, which doesn’t hurt.

It’s really a darn shame that we even have to mention that she’s female or black, but that’s today’s America. It does matter. It shouldn’t – but it does.

We should react to her or Tim Scott as we view Justice Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell or Walter Williams. Although a lot smarter, they are just conservative lovers of the Constitution like us.

Yet in politics, it really does matter.

I was happy to see her win the election in Utah and had high hopes of another conservative freshman firebrand joining the ranks. Then she cast her first vote, and it was for the Shady John Boehner, as Speaker of the House. With her very first vote as a United States Congressman, she throws in with the establishment.

A friend of mine said to me: “Just chill out – wait to hear if she has a reasonable explanation before jumping off her bandwagon.” I told him I would, but already knew there could be no satisfactory explanation for voting for a lying, backroom deal making, enemy of the Constitution. read more

Republicans Reveal Their Plan to Crush Conservatives

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Well, this past weekend, the establishment wing of the Republican Party finally laid its cards on the table. They’ve finally thrown off the veil of faux conservatism to show the entire world just who they really are. The question is – are we now smart enough to see them for who they are?

With the passage of the CROmnibus in the House, during the lame-duck session, they’ve shown that they don’t care a whit about their conservative base, or the American people in general.

Few in the House objected (Louis Gohmert, Michelle Bachmann, etc.) and once again it was up to Ted Cruz (and Mike Lee) in the Senate to tell the truth.

Well, here’s another truth regarding CROmnibus. Some of you may already be aware of it.

Remember when Mitch McConnell said during the last primary season that he wanted to crush the Tea Party – that they (we) wouldn’t win a single primary – that they (the ruling class) will be the Tea Party everywhere? read more

A Good Day For Conservatives

By: the Common Constitutionalist

Update 0615: Well that Good Day was short-lived. Guess I should have known it wouldn’t last. I thought maybe we could have 24 hrs to bask in the glow of a victory before being dashed on the political rocks. But the squishes saw the “SHUTDOWN” looming, I’m sure it was panic time. Oh well, I’ll leave this up here anyway.

Enjoy the false hope as I did last night.

Just look at what transpired Thursday in Congress – the hapless Boehner, trying to rally the troops to no avail in an effort to try to pass a $1.1 trillion bill through next September.

And what of the bill? Well, like magic, 200 additional pages were added to it between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. It’s like those elves that show up at the Cobbler’s shop in the dead of the night.

Who added all these pages to the bill? Gee, I don’t know? I left it right here last night and when I woke up there were 200 additional pages? Huh.

Now it’s obvious the voters, at least the conservatives don’t want anything to do with this train wreck. The Daily Caller reported that the Capital Hill phone lines were jammed on Thursday. Neil Munro wrote that at 3:28 Thursday afternoon, it took a full 7 minutes for someone to pick up the phone whereas it’s normally answered immediately.

“When quizzed by TheDC, the switchboard operator merely said ‘there is high call volume.’ She declined to describe the level of calls. ‘My job is to answer and transfer,’ she said. TheDC called again at 3:50 and a second operator picked up the phone after nine minutes.”

This is obviously a good indication that the electorate is not happy with the GOP. I say that with confidence being that democrat voters don’t usually call in. They riot, loot and burn down their own neighborhoods – but they don’t call. read more

Obama/Boehner Collude on Immigration?

This is disgusting and demonstrates everything that is wrong with Washington:

from HotAir:

Skip to 24:30 for the key bit. Admittedly, admittedly, this is as rote and innocuous a statement of support for amnesty as you’ll ever hear from a GOP leader — he even stresses that we need to secure the border first — but the closer we get to the lame-duck session, the more righties are going to parse his every belch for signs of a deal on immigration. And not just righties: The LA Times perked up upon hearing this today too. As the man himself says, the sooner we get this done, the better it’ll be for the GOP donor class America. Why not November? read more

No to Impeachment – Yes to Lawsuit

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Recently, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, little Johnny Boehner, proclaimed that, “Every member of Congress swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So did Pres. Obama. But too often over the past five years, the president has circumvented the American people and their elected representatives through executive action, changing and creating his own laws, and excusing himself from the forcing statutes he is sworn to uphold – at times even boasting about his willingness to do it, as if daring the American people to stop him.”

“That’s why, later this month, we will bring legislation to the House floor that would authorize the House of Representatives to file suit in an effort to compel president Obama to follow his oath of office and faithfully execute the laws of our country.”

Boehner’s statement was in direct response to Obama’s “So Sue Me” statement to Congress. In other words, Obama will do whatever he darn well pleases, and if you don’t like it – tough toenails for you.

He didn’t, nor does anyone else using that phrase, mean to actually sue him. Maybe he did.

Boehner says he’s disappointed in “the president’s flippant dismissal of the Constitution we are both sworn to defend…”

He’s disappointed? That’s it? Not outraged at the president who is breaking the law on a regular basis, and consistently acting anti-constitutionally? read more
