Is Radical Islamism a Choice?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The president says: “ISIL is not Islamic,” despite the fact that Islamic is in their name. “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple,” he adds.

Before I go any further, let me clarify Obama’s steadfast insistence on using the term ISIL instead of ISIS. ISIS is the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, whereas ISIL is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The Levant is said to encompass the countries of Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Turkey and of course Israel.

So Obama uses ISIL as a veiled slap in the face to Israel, which he obviously has animus toward. Allen West explains that, “if you choose to refer to this group as ISIL, you have basically rewritten the map of the Middle East and fallen into the trap of not recognizing the existence of Israel and also Lebanon. If you use ISIL you are then validating the Islamic totalitarian and jihadist claim that the modern day Jewish State of Israel is an occupation state and does not exist in the eyes of Muslims.”

Obama and the left also contend by omission that Islamic terrorists, ISIS or not, are also not Islamic. We on the right argue that indeed there are such things as Islamic terrorists. In fact, as I’ve written before, it is the only “religion” in which people wantonly murder and enslave in its name.

We on the right think the president’s and left’s position to be utterly absurd. So instead of fighting it, why don’t we take the absurdity to a whole new level and use the left’s own arguments to do so. read more

Obama Takes the Lead – Finally

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So Barack “Milhous” Obama (hat tip Mark Levin) has finally found the enemy for which he can lead from the front. An enemy he doesn’t mind shelling out millions to defeat. An enemy he can fight without building a grand coalition for which to hide behind. An enemy he can fight with “boots on the ground”.

Of course this enemy can’t be seen by the naked eye for it is a virus – the Ebola virus.

I don’t mean to make light of this disease. It’s very serious and quite deadly. Of the 4000 that have been infected so far, over 2400 have already died. As I said, it’s deadly serious.

It’s just funny that Obama gives no thought to sending 3000 soldiers (and their boots) to African ground to fight a virus, yet refuses to do so to fight ISIL.

Yesterday on his radio show, Rush Limbaugh asked his call screener, “Snerdley, I didn’t know you could shoot a virus. Did you? This is the first I’ve heard that that is possible.” read more

Obama – Behind the Speech

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Last week Barack Obama began his ISIS/ISIL/IS/Islamic State speech with the usual “My fellow Americans”. We all know this is a throwaway line and shouldn’t strike a chord. But it did this time, for I don’t believe Obama thinks of you and me as “his” fellow Americans.

He continued: “As commander-in-chief, my highest priority is the security of the American people.”

Now, does anyone anymore truly believe his highest or any priority is the “security” of the American people? If so, why would he just allow a conga line of terrorists and gang members to cross our southern border? We know they are. It’s too easy not to.

Obama then states: “We cannot erase every trace of evil from the world, and small groups of killers have the capacity to do great harm.” To this I agree, but last I checked ISIL have amassed a force of over 30,000 by some estimates. That is not a “small-group”. If a much smaller, less trained and financed group like Al Qaeda can wreak as much havoc as they have, what can 30,000 (and growing) bloodthirsty killers do? read more
