A Day Without Illegal Immigrants

You may have heard that yesterday was nationwide, “A Day Without Immigrants” day.

NPR Reported  that, “In cities around America, thousands of construction companies, restaurants and other businesses are bracing for ‘A Day Without Immigrants,’ a combination boycott/strike that highlights the contributions of immigrants to U.S. business and culture.”

“The movement is a response to President Trump’s immigration agenda, which includes a pledge to seal the U.S. border with Mexico and a travel ban on citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries (which is now on hold),” NPR added.

Demonstrations in many major cities throughout the U.S. took place. By sheer coincidence, most of the cities involved, just happen to be of the sanctuary persuasion.

Interestingly, and 100% predictably – of the dozen or so articles I read regarding the “massive” walkouts, from construction companies to schools and restaurants, not one even attempted to make a distinction between legal and illegal immigration. read more

Not a ‘Rayos’ of Hope for the Deported Mother of Two

See what I did there – a little play on words – you know – Ray – Rayos – cause her name is Rayos?

Anyway, the whole nation has been abuzz over the recent deportation of a poor Arizona wife and mother of two, who was forcibly detained, summarily tossed into the back of a police van and shipped back to Mexico.

As an immediate aside – may I offer an observation? The left always describes their “victims” as poor, pitiful, helpless waifs – especially when women are involved. Many leftist sites described the now deported Guadalupe García de Rayos as simply a wife and mother, and only a wife and mother. So may I ask – just where is the radical National Organization for Women, the Nags? Isn’t just being a wife and mother objectifying her? Because we know that just being a wife and mother is never good enough.

Anyway – just an observation of the inconsistency of the left.

MoveOn.org, choking back a tear, wrote that she was “locked up and then deported the next day. Her kids will grow up without their mother. This was part of a multi-state, coordinated sweep that is terrorizing immigrant communities…” (Emphasis added)

And all because she was just doing what she was told and has done for the past 10 years – doing a “routine check-in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).” read more

Why is Trump Waiting to Rescind DACA?

I have written a lot of rather supportive articles lately about president Trump. I decided going in that I would praise him when it was warranted and criticize him when needed.

It’s only been a few days, and so far, he’s done more good than not. Yet I refuse to be one of Trump’s pom-pom boys (H/T Mark Levin) that cheer every word he utters.

This is one of those times when I feel I must, as others have, question the President.

One of the major issues – perhaps the major issue, and the one that put Trump on the map, was and is illegal immigration – specifically, building the wall and deportations.

It was my hope and understanding – and I’m certainly not the only one – that one of the very first issues Trump would address is immigration. Yet in a flurry of very positive Executive Orders, I didn’t see a single one pertaining to Obama’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Executive Order. I personally was looking for the President to end the program on day one. read more

Self-Deportation is Working Again

by: the Common Constitutionalist

A question. What has been the constant and malodorous refrain of both the left and establishment “Chamber of Commerce” right when it comes to illegal immigration? That’s right – “What are going to do – deport them all?”

Early on in the presidential campaign, that’s exactly what president-elect Trump said – that they all must go. Recall he said they he would “keep families together, but they have to go.”

To that the democrats went predictably berserk. How dare he deport them before most got a chance to vote…for democrats.

Unfortunately for our side – the right and legal side – very few, if any ever offer an adequate rebuttal to just how a mass deportation would or could take place. What we heard are diatribes (correct as they be) about the Constitution and the rule-of-law. read more

Are Trump and Universities Headed for a Mexican Standoff?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Things are going to get very interesting, very quickly. At virtually ever post-election speech, Donald Trump continues to emphasize the point of building the wall along our Southern border. He has also reiterated his hard-line stance of ending sanctuary cities. And he’s not the only one. States are following his lead.

On December 1st, Texas Governor Greg Abbott tweeted  that, “Texas will not tolerate sanctuary campuses or cities. I will cut funding for any state campus if it establishes sanctuary status.”

Two days later, Georgia lawmaker, Earl Ehrhart, said he plans to propose “legislation to defund Universities shielding illegals.”

Meanwhile, major and prestigious universities are girding their loins in preparation for a government crackdown. Harvard University and the University of California have formally announced that they will not comply should Trump follow through with this threat – which, by the way, is not a threat. What it is, is a decision by the president-elect to finally enforce Constitutional and legally passed federal immigration laws. read more

Podcast – Take a Breath Over Trump’s Shifting Rhetoric – Surge in Illegal Crossings

Can we just calm down and take a breath regarding what Trump is now saying compared to what he claimed on the campaign trail and during the debates with Hillary. Trump will be the only complete unknown elected official in Washington. Despite what “experts” claim, no one has a clue what he will do, so why waste time worrying about it. He should receive, by everyone, a 100% clean slate going in. After he makes some actual decisions on policy, we can either applaud him for keeping his word, or call him out for not.

It’s being reported that there has been a huge surge of illegal alien crossing over the past month or so, with almost 50,000 apprehended in the month of October alone. Could it that the flood of illegals is due to the election Donald Trump? Could be. Perhaps illegals read the New York Times and are convinced that if they make it here, all will be forgiven. read more

ILLEGAL INVASION TRANSFORMS SOUTHERN TOWN

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Albertville is a relatively rural community in Northeast Alabama, about 80 miles north of Birmingham. For well over a century this small town of a little over 20,000 was known for one thing – fire hydrants – specifically Mueller Company fire hydrants.

But things have changed in Albertville. Many would say not for the better. One such resident is 42-year-old Sandra Langlois. She would be considered part of the white working class and is unable to find employment. And the reason? “I can’t find a job because I don’t speak Spanish,” she says. read more

Candidate Trump on Immigration – Which One do We Believe

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Trump says he will follow the immigration laws. Actually – no he didn’t. Trump stated in his town hall interview with Sean Hannity: “We wanna follow the laws. You know we have very strong laws…in this country…and I don’t know if you know but Bush and even Obama sends people back. We can be more aggressive in that, but we want to follow the laws.” Want to and will are not synonymous.

Before I go any further, I wish to state that this is not a bash-Trump article. Readers know I am not a Trump guy, but I am not treating Trump any different than I would any candidate, on either side. I am only attempting to be intellectually honest and consistent.

I was all for Trump’s original immigration policy. I’m thankful he brought it up in the first place. And we constitutionalists are still in favor of his original policy. If you are here illegally, you must go – period. There was no time frame attached to his original claim – nor is there a statute of limitations in the myriad of immigration laws on the books.

If The Donald does what he originally said he would do, which earned him the nomination and the dedicated following he has, he would in fact be adhering to the immigration laws. And he would be the first one since Eisenhower in 1954 to do so. On this I defended Trump about this time last year. read more

Mexican Team Gets Home Field Advantage in America

By: the Common Constitutionalist

Anyone who has ever played a sport, or even attended a game understands how important having a home field advantage is. For example, my New England Patriots are virtually unbeatable at home. In fact most teams fare better at home. The players don’t have to interrupt their normal routines and can sleep in their own beds, etc.

But it is the fans which really seem to make the biggest difference. There is nothing more energizing to a player than to have 10’s of thousands of screaming fans on your side – and against the visitors. Just ask the Seattle Seahawks, who fare virtually as well as do the Patriots in their home stadium. Seattle has even coined the phrase, “The Twelve Man,” to pay homage to their fan-base.

There are still other teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers who have both a large traveling fan-base and also, like the Dallas Cowboys, have thousands of converted fans all over the nation.

There is another team however who enjoys an even larger home away from home fan advantage and that is the Mexican National Soccer (futbol) Team. read more

Podcast – HuffPo Loves Government Mandated Overtime – Congresswoman Suffers Swatting Hoax – Zika is Spreading in America

A writer at the Huffington Post is hailing Obama’s latest control issue – mandatory government decreed overtime pay for the private sector. He says it will likely benefit 12 million American families. I disagree.

I speak in segment two of a computer generating swatting hoax perpetrated on a Massachusetts Congresswoman in retaliation for a bill she introduced to prevent online harassment.

The Zika Virus has hit America, but don’t worry – it has nothing at all to do with the huge influx of immigrants streaming across our border. The CDC assures of that. Coincidently, I disagree with this also. read more
