Narratives and Facts Often Don’t Mix

What took them so darn long? We’re rapidly approaching the two year anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, yet we’re just now discovering some facts about the case that are kind of important. Facts that actually set the record straight. Pardon the pun.

For almost two years, Omar Mateen, the Pulse Nightclub shooter, was thought to be a reticent homosexual. A few of the patrons even swore they had seen him at the club, trolling for homosexual hook-ups, or whatever they’re called.

It was said he specifically picked this nightclub because of his repressed homosexual feelings. Even his ex-wife from several years ago, Sitora Yusufiy, said that she had noticed behavior that made her wonder if Omar was straight. Of course she didn’t say this, and probably never noticed it until the media began running with the narrative that Mateen was a closet homosexual. Once suggested to Yusufiy, her mind picked up, and ran with it. It’s like the old: “You know – now that you mention it – he was acting a little strange,” or something like that. It’s also why the practice of attorney’s “leading” witnesses is frowned upon. The power of suggestion can be very powerful indeed.

I mean – after all – it was a gay nightclub. What other motivation could there have been. read more

Less People Watching Because Hollywood is too Political

from Constitution.com:

Liberalism Killed the Radio Star… and the TV star… and the Movie and Sports Stars, Too

Liberalism is fast destroying the entirety of the entertainment sector in the U.S. today, from movies and TV, to sports, to publishing. But the amazing thing is that these media sectors don’t care even a tiny bit that their popularity and finances are eroding faster than a sand castle at high tide.

A new poll by McLaughlin & Associates and the Media Research Center reveals a shocking statistic:  Fully 44 percent of Americans are less likely to watch sports and entertainment shows “because they have become too political.” read more

A Walkout Based on Lies

Guest Post by: John Velisek USN (Ret.)

Thursday was a student walkout of over 3000 schools throughout the country as a way to show deference to the students murdered by a crazed gunman is Parkland Florida. This is a major story as it should be, but the reasons for the walkout mutated to nothing more than another reason to bash the NRA and innocent gun owners throughout the country.

The main premise, which was covered almost 24/7 by most of the progressive mainstream media, focused on the major issues that those in charge see them since the shooting. Guns are bad, assault weapons which are fluid in their definition at best, are worse, and the NRA are boogeymen who must be eradicated in any way possible.

Let’s talk of those really in charge of this whole show of concern and outrage. The Women’s March, Media Matters and ultimately George Soros have combined to organize all this. The teachers union comprised of forced dues-paying members and progressives who use the opportunity to instruct these children in the Marxist traditions that education uses as a base today.

The political indoctrination and propaganda that is being forced on these children today is the same as it has been for the college students that we all have seen in the streets burning and looting because they care more than you do, are more educated than you are, and are in every way, morally superior to those outside of the bubble they have placed themselves inside.

Being a social justice warrior sounds like a high level, morally superior person – someone who can walk on water and dispense truth like Tide Pods to any who will listen – almost a God-like creature who leads the ignorant masses to

the light. These protests are built on the premise “that a child should lead them” – faintly historical, faintly biblical but of a pattern unseen in the roots of religion. read more

Media Ignores McCabe’s Misdeeds

from Media Research Center:

On Wednesday, word leaked out that the FBI’s Inspector General’s office was recommending former deputy director, Andrew McCabe be fired for misleading their investigators who were looking into the handling of the Clinton e-mail investigation. The report hasn’t been made public yet but it comes as the Trump administration was experiencing numerous firings. While ABC, CBS, and NBC had previously hyped such firings, NBC ignored this one as ABC spent more time worried about McCabe’s pension. read more

Media Lies Again About Woman’s Deportation

from The Blaze:

Media vilify Border Patrol over viral video of one mom’s arrest — but ignore why she was arrested

The media had a field day with the U.S. Border Patrol’s arrest of Perla Morales-Luna on March 3 in Southern California.

Morales-Luna is the illegal alien who was arrested on video while her children screamed in the background. The video has since gone viral.

More details behind Morales-Luna’s arrest have emerged, however, and the facts tell a different story from the emotionally charged video that made rounds on the internet. read more

Weapons Ban Didn’t Work Last Time

from IBD:

We Banned Assault Weapons Before … And It Didn’t Work

Maybe they are too young to know, or have faulty memories, but whatever the reason, all those pushing for a ban on “assault weapons” in the wake of the Florida school shooting ignore the fact that the last time the country imposed such a ban it failed to make a measurable difference.

Gun control advocates were ecstatic when President Trump appeared to support a ban on “semi-automatic assault weapons.” The White House later issued a statement that he still opposes a ban.

Nevertheless, Democrats have already introduced two bills that would outlaw the sale of weapons like the AR-15, based mainly on various cosmetic features of the guns, and limit the size of magazines allowed. And the press has been playing up the issue with relentless fervor. read more

When Reporting on Candidates – Let’s Just Stick to the Facts

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

I think we would (and should) all agree that honest and accurate reporting of any subject is important, especially when it comes to which candidate to vote for in the next election. Sensationalism is great at all, if you’re the Hollywood Insider.

What we don’t need is innuendo, exaggeration and damnation by implication or association. That’s just shoddy journalism. An example might be that candidate A’s sister-in-law’s cousin’s son was just indicted on racketeering charges, so just what does this tell us about candidate A, hmmm?

It doesn’t tell a darn thing, but it places that little sliver of doubt in the minds of less informed voters, so the yellow journalist did his or her job.

And such is it, in my opinion, concerning democrat candidate, Jason Crow who is competing for a House seat in Colorado. He is a partner at the Denver law firm Holland & Hart. Assuming he makes it through the democrat primary, he will face off against Republican incumbent, Representative Mike Coffman.

Now Republican Coffman isn’t exactly what I’d call a conservative. His CR Liberty Score is an ‘F,’ at 44%. However Coffman has voted for the tax cut bill, voted to ban abortions after 20 weeks, cut the EPA budget, and voted to defund sanctuary cities. So he’s not all bad, and would be a darn sight better than any democrat. read more

CNN’s Chris Cillizza is not a Smart Man

from HotAir:

CNN’s Chris Cillizza On Deputy Scot Peterson: He Proved The NRA Wrong

CNN’s Chris Cillizza had a really awful hot take on the news that Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson stood outside doing nothing while Nikolas Cruz was inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school shooting people. Cillizza’s take is that this proves, once and for all, that a ‘good guy with a gun’ doesn’t always stop a bad guy with a gun.

Cillizza:

“To stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun,” LaPierre said to applause from the CPAC crowd on Thursday morning. read more

Shocker: Leftist Wants to Abolish Second Amendment

from NewsBusters:

In an appearance on NBC’s Sunday Today early that morning, moderator Chuck Todd lambasted Republicans for being the reason gun control efforts were making no progress since they were in control of the House, Senate, and the Presidency. Todd ratcheted up his anti-gun stance during Meet the Press by promoting radical calls to abolish the right to bears by repealing the Second Amendment. And he did it by highlighting the writings of Bret Stephens, a never-Trumper turned liberal.

Isn’t the difficulty here legislatively, the constitution,” Todd lamented to his largely liberal panel. “Which is Bret Stephens’ point in The New York Times, he’s calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment.” He then emphatically read from the liberal’s talking points: read more

Podcast – Racist and Wrong Constituents – ICE Sweeps Los Angeles – Cruz Visits Fox and Friends

by Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

New York democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand describes her own constituents – the ones who elected her to the Senate – as racist and wrong regarding gun control and illegal immigration. Funny thing though – she used to have views on both, maybe even to right of President Trump. Now she is the puppet of her master, Chuck Schumer

ICE did an immigration sweep of Los Angeles and netted 100 illegals. Only 100? Hey – gotta start somewhere. California politicians are not happy as their cities and now entire State is an illegal alien sanctuary.

Ted Cruz entered the Lion’s den when he visited what turned out to be a hostile environment on Fox & Friends. The hosts were not happy when he described Trump’s position as being to the left of democrats. Cruz schooled them, but things did go well. read more
