To the Left, All Guns are Automatic

from NewsBusters:

Katy Tur Still Doesn’t Know What ‘Semiautomatic’ Means

Every time the term ‘semiautomatic weapon’ hits the mainstream, it’s almost certain that at least one pundit will put their foot in their mouth wile talking about firearms. Thanks to Katy Tur, that trend has continued.

On Thursday, the MSNBC host went on a furious rant about the availability of semiautomatic weapons, presumably arguing in favor of further restrictions on that class of firearm. However, it soon became clear that she was doing what so many others in the media have before her: confusing single-action semiautomatic fire with full auto. Let Ms. Tur serve as a reminder that fake news does not have to be deliberate in order to fit the bill. read more

We Don’t Need a Tide Pod Protection Law

Another stupid law proposed by Nursemaid legislators to try to govern every aspect of our lives. Will we ever learn that we cannot legislate stupidity out of society? Guess not.

This time it is a law proposed only by the State of New York, but I wouldn’t expect this safety edict to be limited to just one State. Sooner or later, some Congressman or Senator will pickup the ball and run with it – straight to Capital Hill.

As with many eventual decrees handed down by tyrannical busy-body progressives, it starts first with a request, or in this case an “urging.” It is then followed with a threatening demand, as in the case in New York.

New York State of Politics writes that, “While our legislation would only protect New Yorkers, we urge Procter & Gamble and all manufacturers of colorful detergent pods to offer the same protections to the nation and immediately commit to the precautions set forth in our legislation,” wrote the lawmakers, Sen. Brad Hoylman and Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas.

“It’s time that you recognized the danger to those least able to protect themselves from a poisonous product packaged like candy. If not, these products should be removed from store shelves as soon as possible.” Leftists do like to make demands. read more

Have the Democrats Introduced an Immigration Overton Window Scenario

Conservatives constantly complain about a lack of transparency in Washington, and for good reason. Just look at the MuellerImage result for McCain Coons investigation, the FBI and FISA. But on at least one issue, things are as transparent as they can be.

This issue is immigration and the transparency is John McCain’s white-hot hatred of Donald Trump. McCain will not miss a single opportunity to stick a finger in the eye of Trump, regardless of the damage to his Party and especially the nation.

And so it is yet again as the great Maverick of the Senate, John McCain, joined forces with democrat Chris Coons to introduce their own “bipartisan” immigration proposal.

Bipartisan is supposed to mean working together and compromising, when needed, for the good of the whole. Yet we should know by now, bipartisan in Washington bears no resemblance to the real world. D.C. bipartisanship means only that Republicans cave to the immediate demands of democrats, trusting the untrustworthy dems to follow through with whatever vague promise they make of maybe giving the right a little of what they want later. And we also know that later never comes. read more

VA Votes to Remain Gender Specific

The Episcopal Church votes to make God gender neutral, but the VA opts for their motto to remain. Good for the New VA.

from The Blaze:Image result for VA Motto

U.S. Veterans Affairs headquarters refuses request to make its motto ‘gender neutral’

The Department of Veterans Affairs has denied a request to make its motto “gender neutral,” reports Stars and Stripes, a military newspaper.

For 59 years, the VA’s motto has read: “To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan.” The quote comes from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address in 1865, the same year Lincoln created the government’s institution for volunteer soldiers. read more

Schizophrenic Chicago Voted Best City and Murder Capital

Each year the social website Time Out publishes its list of the World’s best cities. And this past Monday was that day. Using its “City Life Index,” they determined that the one that tops them all for being the best city in the World for having fun and enjoying city life is Chicago. Yep – “Chicago was ranked the best city for having it all through Time Out’s extensive City Life Index.” And this is a back to back victory, as they also took top honors in 2016.

Time Out writes that in making its determination, they “surveyed 15,000 people in 32 cities—from Austin to Hong Kong to Tel Aviv—and asked in-depth questions about sex, dining, neighborhoods, affordability, happiness and so much more. Each city was then scored across those facets to reveal the winner.”

They claim the survey said that new restaurants and bars are opening all the time and that Chicagoans eat out quite often. read more

Video Podcast – The Shutdown – The Reality of Immigration – Democrat Infighting

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The dreaded government shutdown is upon us. Anyone notice? Not yet at least. But is the shutdown, that we well know is a mere slowdown, a real problem? Is it real or just imaginary? Is the angst everyone claims to be feeling over the shutdown psychosomatic – just a Pavlovian response?

Leftists in France are finding out first hand, the joys of being overrun with refugees and immigrants. Their quest for a truly diverse society that they so often claim to want is backfiring. The French are finding it difficult for their children to obtain a decent education, due to the sudden diverse nature of their schools.

The democrats may not have as easy a time in the mid-term elections as is being promoted by the left. Caustic infighting among the Hillary/Bernie factions continues to fracture the party. And it appears as if they will be hard-pressed to find common ground before November. Coupled with their hopeless lack of fundraising and it may be a recipe for disaster. read more

No More Besties

In 1968 singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson wrote and performed a theme song for a television program entitled, “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” starring the original Bruce Banner, Bill Bixby. The song was called, “Best Friend.”

Little did Harry know at the time, but his song should have been entitled, “Best Friends are bad and Exclusionary.” At least that’s the way one psychologist sees it.

In an article for US News & World Report, Dr. Barbara Greenberg asks: “Should Schools Ban Kids From Having Best Friends?”

Yes, you read that right. And just like most wacky leftist ideas, this too originates in Europe. “I am always fascinated by trends. And I am especially intrigued by the emerging trend among European schools, and now some American schools as well, to ban best friends,” writes the good Doctor. She adds that, “This, to me, seems like a Herculean task. The notion of choosing best friends is deeply embedded in our culture. Nonetheless, there is, in my opinion, merit to the movement to ban having best friends.”

Can you see where this is going? It may seem like just a silly notion, but it’s not. It’s actually part of something much larger and much more disturbing. read more

Minnesota’s Somali Problem

from Creeping Sharia:

Minnesota’s “Little Mogadishu” celebrated at Reason.com

Not all that many years ago, the worst things you could say about Minneapolis were that it was very cold in the winter and, for an American city of its size, it was somewhat dull. On the plus side, this traditionally Scandinavian-American burg was a model of safety and cleanliness.

Well, that’s ancient history. Minneapolis is now the world’s #2 capital of Somali Muslims. (#1 is Mogadishu.) In the Somali community, unemployment and welfare dependency rates are high. The city is a major recruiting center for ISIS. At least a couple of ISIS recruits have used taxpayer-funded student loans to fly to the Middle East to become jihadists; many other local Somalis are suspected of wiring welfare cash to terrorist groups. Violent crime is epidemic: as recently as December 13, a Somali Muslim immigrant stabbed a Minneapolis woman no fewer than fourteen times on her way home from work. read more

Trump says No Wall, No DREAMers

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

“Donald Trump demanded on Friday that any deal to resolve the fate of young undocumented migrants [DREAMers] must be paired with funding for a wall along the southern US border,” reports The Guardian.

How rude. Doesn’t Trump know that only liberals are permitted to “demand” things? The rest of us are to either shut up or ask politely, then accept whatever Chuck Schumer decides.

This opening statement by the Guardian follows a rather sad photo of a mother and her melancholy child. Although the photo’s caption doesn’t name the two as illegal, this is the obvious inference, as both look Hispanic and are seated in front of sign that reads, “Don’t Separate Families.”

“There are about 700,000 so-called Dreamers [sic], undocumented migrants brought to the US as children. In September. Trump announced that he was rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or Daca, a policy implemented by Barack Obama in 2012 that allowed Dreamers to come out of the shadows to study and work legally in the US. Trump placed the fate of the young immigrants squarely in the hands of Congress, giving lawmakers until 5 March to find a legislative solution.”

Well – where to begin with this load of crap, written in a way to sound like factual, objective reporting. And to anyone unfamiliar, this does sound like legitimate, dispassionate reporting. Unfortunately for us – most will read this as real news. read more

Video Podcast – Feelin the Republican Bern – Leftists took to Twitter

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Recently, a camera wielding interviewer took to the streets of New York City. There he founds liberals who were actually quite enamored with the new Republican Tax law.

How could this be you may ask? Easy – the roving conservative reporter presented the Republican plan as one authored by their hero Bernie Sanders. These leftists agreed with practically every proposal within the plan, when they thought it originated with Bernie.

Some radical leftists took to Twitter a few days ago to lament not just the Republican tax plan, but Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise’s help in passing it.

Recall that Scalise was the unfortunate soul gunned down by another unhinged Bernie supporter during a Congressional baseball earlier this year.

They tweeted that the shooter should have finished the job. read more
