A Day Without Illegal Immigrants

You may have heard that yesterday was nationwide, “A Day Without Immigrants” day.

NPR Reported  that, “In cities around America, thousands of construction companies, restaurants and other businesses are bracing for ‘A Day Without Immigrants,’ a combination boycott/strike that highlights the contributions of immigrants to U.S. business and culture.”

“The movement is a response to President Trump’s immigration agenda, which includes a pledge to seal the U.S. border with Mexico and a travel ban on citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries (which is now on hold),” NPR added.

Demonstrations in many major cities throughout the U.S. took place. By sheer coincidence, most of the cities involved, just happen to be of the sanctuary persuasion.

Interestingly, and 100% predictably – of the dozen or so articles I read regarding the “massive” walkouts, from construction companies to schools and restaurants, not one even attempted to make a distinction between legal and illegal immigration. read more

Not a ‘Rayos’ of Hope for the Deported Mother of Two

See what I did there – a little play on words – you know – Ray – Rayos – cause her name is Rayos?

Anyway, the whole nation has been abuzz over the recent deportation of a poor Arizona wife and mother of two, who was forcibly detained, summarily tossed into the back of a police van and shipped back to Mexico.

As an immediate aside – may I offer an observation? The left always describes their “victims” as poor, pitiful, helpless waifs – especially when women are involved. Many leftist sites described the now deported Guadalupe García de Rayos as simply a wife and mother, and only a wife and mother. So may I ask – just where is the radical National Organization for Women, the Nags? Isn’t just being a wife and mother objectifying her? Because we know that just being a wife and mother is never good enough.

Anyway – just an observation of the inconsistency of the left.

MoveOn.org, choking back a tear, wrote that she was “locked up and then deported the next day. Her kids will grow up without their mother. This was part of a multi-state, coordinated sweep that is terrorizing immigrant communities…” (Emphasis added)

And all because she was just doing what she was told and has done for the past 10 years – doing a “routine check-in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).” read more

Illegals – We Know Where They are – So Let the Deportations Begin

The latest from Pew Research  is that there are approximately 11.1 millions illegal aliens in America presently. That’s 3.5 percent of our total population.

Of that 11.1 million, Pew states that 61 percent of them reside in just 20 cities, or metropolitan areas. Of those cities, Austin, Texas has the fewest at 100,000, while metro areas like New York City and Los Angeles take the top two spots. That 61% equates to 6.8 million illegals concentrated in a relatively small area.

Surprisingly, the cities of San Francisco and Oakland only came in at number 11. They’ve really got to work on getting their numbers up. They accounted for only 240,000 criminal aliens. Frankly that is an embarrassment for the poster city of undocumented democrats.

The Washington DC/Arlington/Alexandria, Va. area came in seventh at 400,000. Of course I’m sure they need every one of them to cook, clean and mow the lawns of thousands of federal government employees, lobbyists, Senators and Congressman. read more

Senators Propose Cutting Immigration by Half

from Conservative Review:

USA green cards

If one wants to know what an “America First” approach to reforming our legal immigration system looks like, one need look no further than the bill introduced by Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. (C, 76%) and David Perdue, R-Ga. (C, 75%).

On Tuesday, the duo introduced the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment (RAISE) Act, which would restructure our immigration system to better address the needs of the American people.

All in all, Sen. Cotton’s office press release states, “The RAISE Act would lower overall immigration to 637,960 in its first year and to 539,958 by its tenth year — a 50 percent reduction from the 1,051,031 immigrants who arrived in 2015.” read more

So Who is Really in Charge of Immigration

It’s obvious and has been demonstrated repeatedly as of late, that the Democrat Party cares less for American citizens than it does for foreign visitors and illegal immigrants.

The Party has also exhibited a willingness to flaunt or outright break the law in doing so.

Being that the Common Constitutionalist is not an actual Constitutional scholar, I cannot say for certain if President Trump’s temporary ban of people from seven foreign nations is or is not Constitutional – anymore than I can say Obama’s was. But I can read…and think.

However, the larger and longer lasting issue is that of illegal immigration, and States and cities refusal to follow federal law. However some would consider this a gray area.

If one were to look to the Constitution, which should always be first consulted, we would see that the word immigration doesn’t appear anywhere. What does is Article I, Section 8, clause 4, which states that, “Congress shall have the Power To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization…” read more

It’s Time to Permanently Limit Immigration…Again

The left, moderate republicans, and most everyone else are freaking out over President Donald Trump’s Muslim ban, which is anything but a Muslim ban.

Yesterday, Glenn Beck, on his morning radio program, ran through the facts of what Trump actually signed as an Executive order. Beck added that he (like me) is not a fan of Executive Orders. Executive Orders have the air of a monarchy or autocracy and, in my opinion, upsets the balance of power and undercuts republicanism – our system of government – not the Party.

Beck and his on-air colleague Stu did lament that the speed in which the order went into effect took authorities like the TSA almost by surprise, as these agencies were being informed of the order as Trump was signing it.

However it appears that these agencies did a remarkable job of following the order with little warning – so hats off to them. Never thought I’d say that about the TSA, Customs or any other government department.

Outside JFK, thousands gathered to protest. In the midst of the crowd were several individuals from a group called “UNITE 4 PEOPLE” holding up placards, each with an illuminated letter spelling out “NO BAN.” read more

President Trump – Don’t Give an Inch on Your Immigration Crack Down

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Let them protest all they like. Let all the lefty whack-jobs gather en masse at every major city in the U.S. to protest president Trump’s orders to halt immigration from seven specific countries. Let them whine and cry over the stoppage of the ridiculous refugee relocation program from the Middle East and other majority Muslim nations – refugees who are overwhelming NOT CHRISTIAN.

Let them all continue to protest at a fevered pitch, for the louder and more obnoxious they are the quicker they will peter out. No one can remain as angry as these crowds appear to be forever. It is doubtful the people can keep up this pace for even an entire week. They will eventually, sooner than later, tire of shouting, chanting and lugging around signs and banners. And then as quickly as the events were organized, they will end, and the crowds will disperse on their own.

The trick for the Trump administration, is to hold the line and don’t back down from their positions. Don’t give an inch – don’t compromise.

The left are masters at creating cracks in their opponent’s lines. And they, we and the republicans all know that historically the dems have had great success employing the divide and conquer strategy. It always happens one of two ways, or perhaps a combination of both. read more

Podcast – Leftist Mayors Whine About Trump Immigration Policy – and So Does Mark Zuckerberg

Leftist Mayors of America’s Major Cities are upset with president Trump over his order to clamp down on “Sanctuary Cities.” Frankly, the entire left is nuts over it. Ain’t it grand?!

Many Mayors are vowing to fight the feds and some on left are calling th

e possible withholding of federal funds as extortion. Funny, but I don’t ever recall these same lefties mentioning anything about Obama’s many threats to extort States if they didn’t comply with his unlawful wishes.

And Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook has weighed in on Trump’s Immigration Orders – so I guess there’s nothing more to be said – but I’ll say it anyway. Listen to find to out just what nonsense Mr. Facebook spewed. read more

Just Say No…To Tariffs

by: the Common Constitutionalist

President Trump said a lot of things over the past couple of years. He made a lot of claims and assertions – some of which he has backed off on recently. For example – it doesn’t appear that we will be seeing Hillary behind bars anytime soon as Trump described during a debate. I also doesn’t appear he has the desire to deport all 11 million (more like north of 20 million, in my opinion) illegal aliens.

While I don’t necessarily agree, I understand why he would just want to move on, rather than rehash old claims. And who knows – maybe he’ll get to them in good time.

But one thing he hasn’t backed off of is his desire to build a wall on the Southern Border and have Mexico pay for it. At the time, no one knew what his method for extracting the estimated $12-$15 billion out of Mexico was going to be. I’m sure some thought that he would insist that Mexico just cut a check or something.

Now we know that President Trump’s plan is to attach a tariff of up to 20% for all goods imported from Mexico to the United States. This, my friends, is some bad juju. read more

Why is Trump Waiting to Rescind DACA?

I have written a lot of rather supportive articles lately about president Trump. I decided going in that I would praise him when it was warranted and criticize him when needed.

It’s only been a few days, and so far, he’s done more good than not. Yet I refuse to be one of Trump’s pom-pom boys (H/T Mark Levin) that cheer every word he utters.

This is one of those times when I feel I must, as others have, question the President.

One of the major issues – perhaps the major issue, and the one that put Trump on the map, was and is illegal immigration – specifically, building the wall and deportations.

It was my hope and understanding – and I’m certainly not the only one – that one of the very first issues Trump would address is immigration. Yet in a flurry of very positive Executive Orders, I didn’t see a single one pertaining to Obama’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Executive Order. I personally was looking for the President to end the program on day one. read more
