What Happened to Sean “Penny Plan” Hannity

This upsets me, but if we are to remain true to conservative ideals, we must be prepared to call those who appear to have abandoned them.

In early July, 2011, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 14th congressional district, Cornelius Harvey McGillicuddy (cool name), better known as Connie Mack IV, introduced a government spending plan called the Mack Penny Plan.

Mack served in Congress from 2004-2013.

More precisely, Mack Penny was a plan to cut government spending. Unlike virtually all things in government, his plan was quite simple. For every dollar of proposed spending, the plan would take away one penny of spending. So instead of the government spending that dollar, they would receive 99 cents to spend. See – simple.

In August of that year, FreedomWorks wrote that, “The Penny Plan would require Congress to cut just one penny out of each dollar it spends every year for six years. These gradual cuts over the next six years will balance the federal budget.”

If it were enacted it would have, “capped Overall Spending at 18 Percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Starting in Fiscal Year 2018, Reduce Overall Federal Spending by $7.5 trillion over the Next Ten Years, Would Balance the Federal Budget by 2019 and End Washington’s Unprecedented Spending Spree.” read more

Limbaugh’s Thoughts on the latest Budget Agreement

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Listening to Rush Limbaugh on Friday had me confused. He’s always been the voice of the right, giving voice to our thoughts. But it appears since this past presidential election, at least to me, that he is putting the voice of Trump and his supporters ahead of what we knew he has always been – a no-nonsense, small government, frugal conservative.

He has always been the man we could count on to hold everyone accountable for their actions and votes, if they happened to veer away from espoused conservative principles.

Yet Rush doesn’t appear to me to ever be critical of the President, even as Trump signs onto a massive spending increase or offers up amnesty to millions.

I discuss all of this rather uncomfortable topic. And believe me – I hate doing it. read more

Schizophrenic Chicago Voted Best City and Murder Capital

Each year the social website Time Out publishes its list of the World’s best cities. And this past Monday was that day. Using its “City Life Index,” they determined that the one that tops them all for being the best city in the World for having fun and enjoying city life is Chicago. Yep – “Chicago was ranked the best city for having it all through Time Out’s extensive City Life Index.” And this is a back to back victory, as they also took top honors in 2016.

Time Out writes that in making its determination, they “surveyed 15,000 people in 32 cities—from Austin to Hong Kong to Tel Aviv—and asked in-depth questions about sex, dining, neighborhoods, affordability, happiness and so much more. Each city was then scored across those facets to reveal the winner.”

They claim the survey said that new restaurants and bars are opening all the time and that Chicagoans eat out quite often. read more

Conservatives Need to Remain Consistent On Unemployment

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

For a decade or so, we conservatives had been like the town criers. Every time new employment numbers emerged we would cry out that despite what we all see, read and hear from the left wing media, all was not well. Throughout the entirety of the Obama reign, virtually everyone right of center – yes, even those establishment Republicans, would rightly claim that Obama’s unemployment figures were bogus.

And they were. Despite all other dreadful economic indicators, save for the phony Wall Street numbers, the unemployment rate continued to drop throughout Obama’s time. We on the right knew these numbers did not tell the true story, as the government was using the “official” unemployment calculator known as U-3.

This, as many know, does not give an accurate picture of real unemployment in this country. For years we have insisted that the more accurate U-6 data be used, as it takes into account not only short term unemployed, but also long-termed unemployed, discouraged workers who have just given up, and the underemployed, who wish to work full time yet can only find part time employment. This is the number conservatives insisted be reflected during the Obama years.

But then something odd happened after President Trump took office. read more

Trump’s War on Women Continues

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The left is once again in melt down mode over Trump’s latest supposed war on something they hold dear. This time it is the President’s wanton disregard for ObamaCare’s mandate requiring free contraception and his “administration’s increasingly bizarre war on abortion.”

The New York Times writes in an article entitled, “Why Judges Matter,” that the Trump administration is attempting to block access to abortions for “undocumented teenagers” and employee access to birth control.

As if right on cue, a leftist hack federal district court judge in Philadelphia, Wendy Beetlestone, stepped in and blocked the administration’s attempt at both saving human life and providing for employer’s religious and moral objection to contraception.

Imagine the lengths the left will go through to get these young illegals to this country safely and insist they stay at any cost, only to authorize and encourage the murder of one after they arrive. This is exactly what they are proposing, by offering free and easy abortions to illegals. read more

Liberal Professor Compared To Hitler

from The Daily Caller:

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, a Canadian university professor, identifies as a classic British liberal, but his opposition to the progressive shift in higher education has led media outlets, activists, and fellow professors to label him “far right” and compare him to Adolf Hitler.

In a conversation with The Daily Caller, Dr. Peterson discussed how such labels and libelous attacks are used to shut down debate and to “contribute to this increased polarization.”

“We’re in a situation now where if you disagree vociferously with the radical left, then you’re immediately regarded as an exemplar of the opposite extreme,” he told TheDC. “That’s not good, and in my case it’s certainly not true.” read more

WND Exclusive – I’m White — Through no Fault of my Own

Talk about a great gig if you can get it. Being able to quit your day job and travel around the country, getting paid good money for bashing your own race. It’s possible you don’t even have to really believe it, as long as it sounds sincere and sufficiently vitriolic.

Not many have been afforded this opportunity. The only one I am aware of is Dr. Robin DiAngelo. She has a Ph.D. in Multicultural Education and was a lecturer at her alma mater, the University of Washington in Seattle. She is also white. However, it appears she feels quite guilty about this.

Now she receives invitations to speak at colleges by organizations such as the Public Affairs Alliance for Communities of Color at the University of Texas at Austin. read more

What Good is a Dialogue?

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist:

How many times have we heard this repeated, by politicians, pundits, activists, etc.?

“We need to have a dialogue…” – or “we need to have a national discussion…” It’s repeated incessantly from those on the left and the right, in an effort to score cheap political points.

“We need to have a discussion about racism.” “We need a real dialogue about gun control” – as opposed to a fake dialogue. “We need an honest immigration debate.”

These are easy throw-away soundbites. They roll off the tongue, dripping with false empathy.

Yet time after time, we see the irony played out, when someone on the right is willing to put themselves out there and do just that, only to have radicals on the left attempt to shut him or her down.

It happened again just last week, in where else – California. This time anarchists took a break from Berkeley, and assembled at the University of California at Los Angeles. And in the irony of all ironies, they shut down a panel discussion on…wait for it… “civil discourse.” Yes – the “lets have a dialogue” crowd was shut down for trying to “have a dialogue.” read more

WND Exclusive – The left’s despicable use of emotion post-Vegas

In the aftermath of the Las Vegas massacre, it took only a matter of hours before the left sought to divide us, howling for gun control. But as we’ve seen many times before, they don’t care how it sounds or looks. They don’t care how caustic their rhetoric is. It’s all and only about advancing the agenda.

The overarching agenda of the progressive left, since its rise to prominence in the early 20th century, was/is to chip away at and eventually supplant the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence with their version of America. And they will seize any opportunity do so, regardless of how tasteless. read more

Another Example of Eco-Duplicity

by: the Common Constitutionalist

No Audio Version

Ahh – liberal hypocrisy.

We want green energy. We want to end the scourge of carbon pollution. We want it so bad that we’ll fly all over the world in our pollution-spewing private jets to advocate and raise awareness for solar and wind.

However, when you erect those enormous wind mills, just don’t install them in our back yards. Thus is the phony environmentalist refrain. Only this time a green-weenie, eco-celebrity (by marriage) isn’t necessarily complaining of the off-shore wind farm itself. He’s whining about how unsightly the underground cables carrying the much heralded eco-electricity are.

Singer Adele’s husband, Simon Konecki, multimillionaire founder of bottled water company Life Water, has hit out, as the Brits say, against German energy company E.ON corporation for their handling of the latest British off-shore £2 billion [$2.7 billion] wind farm installation.

Konecki, who claims to stand for everything green, is not against the Rampion offshore wind farm, but rather the cables that transfer power from the farm to land. read more
