Todd Akin took his foot out of his mouth long enough to declare he is staying in the race! Evidently it’s the biggest story of the year. So big, President Obama had to come the podium to capitalize  speak on the topic.

“The One” has not given a press conference for at least a few months now. I guess there hasn’t been much of great import of which to speak. Until this earth-shattering news of Todd Akins dimwitted statements about rape & pregnancy. Maybe if his name was Todd Biden, he would get a pass.

So here we are, talking about some no-name senate candidate. But, hey, it’s a lot more important than say, the Chinese and Japanese in a rather heated argument over the ownership of the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands in the China Sea. The conflict has sparked huge protests in Sichuan province, China, with no resolution in sight. China and Japan aren’t exactly bossom buddies as it is. Their animosity for each other runs pretty deep already. What could possibly happen that’s any of our concern, I ask ya?

But hey, how about those tax returns of Mitt Romney? What’s he trying to hide, anyway? Knowing that the IRS doesn’t have any problem with him is immaterial. Sure, he’d be in prison for tax evasion if they did, but hey, it’s important and the American People want to know, I guess. It has to be more important than Egypt’s wonderfully democratic uprising, the “Arab Spring”, which has spawned an Islamic dictator in Mohammad Morsi that is now more powerful than the secular dictator they just threw out, Hosni Mubarak and is tied to the Muslim Brotherhood who’s intent is to destroy Israel. But hey, where are Romney’s tax returns. That’s what people want to know. I know it’s true because that’s what the dems and the press keep telling us.

We now know Obama’s favorite super power would be the power to speak every language.  The president said he would “love to be able to speak any language,” even though “it might not come in handy to rescue folks from a burning building.” Obama says he’s a “big believer in making connections with people.” We know this because he told it to some bubbleheaded morning drive radio show hosts during a phone interview with KOB-FM in Albuquerque, N.M. We also learned he listens to Beyonce while working out. Hard hitting stuff, I know. Much more important than say, the Israel, Iran conflict. Prime Minister Netanyahu has all but guaranteed a strike on Iran nuclear facilities. But hey, how is that more important than Barack’s super power. We still don’t know what type of tree he would be. Maybe he’s saving that gem for his next hard-hitting interview.

Speaking of investigative journalism. Were we? Anyway, we find out Paul Ryan’s ex-girlfriend was black. I don’t know if she still is. Being that Ryan must be a racist, he probably took her to his lab in his parents basement to whiten her up. Kind of like One Hour Martinizing. If you’re a white racist, you know what I’m talkin bout. You know that knowledge is paramount relative to the economy.

This is what the American people must know. They certainly don’t need to know whether their house will be foreclosed. They’re unconcerned with the uneployment rate. They’re utterly disenchanted with potential taxmegeddon next year. Why would anyone care about such trivial things when there’s a Mormon vying for the Whitehouse. He’ll probably turn it into a temple. Those Mormons. We all know what their up to.

We all just want to know when Romney will release those darn tax returns and whether Joe Biden wears mismatched socks! All will be right with the world with that knowledge. You know this to be true.

Harry Reid, Public Servant

Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person’s current salary — and he’s at the top of his game — is $193,400. You probably wouldn’t expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.

But, surprise, he does, if he’s our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org. When Harry Reid entered the Nevada legislature in 1982, his net worth was listed as between $1 million and $1.5 million “or more,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. So, since inquiring minds inquire, let’s try to figure out how Reid’s career in public service ended up being so lucrative. He hasn’t released his tax returns, which makes this an imperfect science, but looking at a few of his investments helps to show how he amassed his wealth.

In 2004, the senator made $700,000 off a land deal that was, to say the least, unorthodox. It started in 1998 when he bought a parcel of land with attorney Jay Brown, a close friend whose name has surfaced multiple times in organized-crime investigations and whom one retired FBI agent described as “always a person of interest.” Three years after the purchase, Reid transferred his portion of the property to Patrick Lane LLC, a holding company Brown controlled. But Reid kept putting the property on his financial disclosures, and when the company sold it in 2004, he profited from the deal — a deal on land that he didn’t technically own and that had nearly tripled in value in six years.

When his 2010 challenger Sharron Angle asked him in a debate how he had become so wealthy, he said, “I did a very good job investing.” Did he ever. On December 20, 2005, he invested $50,000 to $100,000 in the Dow Jones U.S. Energy Sector Fund (IYE), which closed that day at $29.15. The companies whose shares it held included ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, and ConocoPhillips (evil big oil). When he made a partial sale of his shares on August 19, 2008, during congressional recess, IYE closed at $41.82. Just a month later, on September 17, Reid was working to bring to the floor a bill that the Joint Committee on Taxation said would cost oil companies — including those in the fund — billions of dollars in taxes and regulatory fees. The bill passed a few days later, and by October 10, IYE’s shares had fallen by 42 percent, to $24.41, for a host of reasons. Savvy investing indeed.

Here’s another example: The Los Angeles Times reported in November 2006 that when Reid became Senate majority leader he committed to making earmark reform a priority, saying he’d work to keep congressmen from using federal dollars for pet projects in their districts. It was a good idea but an odd one for the senator to espouse. He had managed to get $18 million set aside to build a bridge across the Colorado River between Laughlin, Nev., and Bullhead City, Ariz., a project that wasn’t a priority for either state’s transportation agency. His ownership of 160 acres of land nearby that stood to appreciate considerably from the project had nothing to do with the decision, according to one of his aides. The property’s value has varied since then. On his financial-disclosure forms from 2006, it was valued at $250,000 to $500,000. Open Secrets now lists it as his most valuable asset, worth $1 million to $5 million as of 2010.

How Reid acquired that land is interesting, too. He put $10,000 into a pension fund his friend Clair Haycock controlled, to take over the 160-acre parcel at a price far below its assessed value. Six months later, Reid introduced legislation that would help Haycock’s industry, a move many observers said appeared to be a quid pro quo, though Reid and Haycock denied that the legislation was the result of a property deal.

We don’t know how much more money Reid has or how he made all of it. For that, we’d have to see his tax returns.

Just Your Average Farmers Market

This is a market where you have to keep your wits about you – because eight times a day a train comes crashing through.

Just seconds before it is a bustling open-air marketplace like any other with stallholders and shoppers haggling over the price of the produce on sale.

Maeklong Market is in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, about 37 miles west of Bangkok.

Every day people sell locally grown fruits such as lychee, durian, and mango, freshly caught seafood, dried spices and peppers, and other local foods.

Locals weave their way in between vendors, picking up whatever they need that day, while tourists curiously marvel at the more unique foods at the market such as fried frog on a stick.

But then, eight times a day, a piercing siren sounds and in a flash the market transforms –

It is such a tight squeeze that the train – appearing to travel at about 15mph – touches the fruits, vegetables and everything else at the marketplace as it passes through.

Immigration Transformation

We are a nation of Immigrants. Of course, so is almost every other nation. So what?

That is the line and argument for a “Comprehensive Immigration” policy, is it not. This throwaway line comes not only from the left, but the right.

They say that even those who founded are nation were immigrants. Yours and my forefathers were immigrants. True enough. Again, so what?

One has to make a giant leap to arrive at the conclusion that there is therefore a moral equivalent between legal and illegal immigration. But the leap is made nonetheless.

Mark Levin reminds us to always go back and look at our founding documents for guidance. The answer is usually there. And of course it is. The Declaration of Independence states, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”

Can anyone tell me who amongst the legally governed, other than our Dictator in chief, consented to defacto blanket amnesty for 1 million or so illegals by Obama’s decreed “deferred action”?

As an aside, bully for Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona for standing up to this tyrant.

The Declaration also gives a handy little solution to this dilemma. “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” That’s the crux of this upcoming election. We can take a big step toward the abolition of the current governing body this November.

The progressives, both left and right, tell us that today’s illegal immigrants are the moral equivalent to all other immigrants that came before. As Levin says, the illegal is portrayed as somehow being more virtuous than even American citizens. They are people of faith, hard working and strong in family values. Traits not shared with us citizens, apparently.

So how did we get here? What was the genesis of this upside down thinking?

It was 1965, during the Lyndon Johnson administration. Like his progressive predecessors, Johnson’s “Great Society” would fundamentally transform this nation, forever altering immigration policy in this country.

Johnson signed the Hart-Celler act in 1965. It was to be the beginning of the “new” immigration structure. Johnson claimed in his signing speech that, “When the earliest settlers poured into a wild continent there was no one to ask them where they came from. The only question was: Were they sturdy enough to make the journey, were they strong enough to clear the land, were they enduring enough to make a home for freedom, and were they brave enough to die for liberty if it became necessary to do so?” He neglected to add that we were not yet a nation with an elected government charged with protecting and defending our borders. But hey, what do I know.

He added, “This bill says simply that from this day forth those wishing to immigrate to America shall be admitted on the basis of their skills and their close relationship to those already here.”

Our old buddy the late senator Ted Kennedy added on the floor of the senate, that, “Our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually.” He added, “The entire mix of this country will not be upset.”

He, of course, was either wrong or intentionally lying. I vote for the latter.

The 1965 act abolished national quotas in favor of what we call chain-migration. This gave preference to relatives of residents (family unification) over applicants with special skills.  Facts are facts and the facts are that since 1965, immigrants to the United States are poorer, less educated & less skilled, and those are the legal immigrants.

This liberalization of our immigration policy gave rise to an increase of illegal immigration.

Cesar Estrada Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist who, with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers. Believe me, he was no conservative.

In the sixties Chavez strongly opposed illegal immigration saying that it undermined his ability to unionize farm workers, improve conditions and wages for the American worker. The union would even report illegals to the feds. How far we’ve come in a short 47 years, eh?

In 1969, Chavez along with Walter Mondale (yes, that Walter Mondale) organized a march on the southern border protesting farmers’ use of illegals. Imagine that happening today. That’s progress, I guess.

Then there is the misuse of the 14th amendment to the Constitution, they always cite. It states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside…” The Statists (as Levin calls them) always neglect the, “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” part of the amendment. The amendments purpose was to grant citizenship to the emancipated slaves, who were born here and owed sole allegiance to this country. The American Indians did not have the same right, due to their allegiance to tribal jurisdiction. They were excluded by the 14th amendment.

One cannot be conferred citizenship by their mere presence. Diplomats and other foreign visitors to this country who happen to give birth here are not granted automatic citizenship. Why? Because the parents aren’t subject to this country’s jurisdiction and owe no allegiance to the U.S. They, of course, are subject to the jurisdiction of their home country.

The illegal or even the legal immigration problem we have today can be summed up this way. Statists in the sixties are really no different than the ones that rule us today. Whether it is through healthcare or as this article documents, immigration, it’s always the same, the unending want to fundamental transform America.  They will bend and pervert the Constitution and rule of law however they need to, to accomplish it.

An Interview with Country Legend Charlie Daniels

“There’s a move afoot to change life in America into totally European – I’ve heard that so much I’m getting sick of it: ‘European’ – socialist thing,” says country-music legend Charlie Daniels, “but it’s the dag-blamed truth [sic], and it don’t work, it never has worked, and if America goes that way, America will never be America again.”

Daniels told WND in an exclusive interview that he expects 2012, with the nation’s very identity on the line, will be “the biggest election we have ever had.”

“In my 75 years on Earth, it’s never been as clear-cut as it is now,” Daniels said. “We’re either going to go into socialism, where part of the people work and the rest of them don’t, and the ones that do will be taxed to death, or – I got the point where I don’t trust politicians anymore, but hopefully – the other side represents, ‘Let’s put America back to work; let’s re-instill the work ethic back in people.’”

Since the 1950s Daniels has been a country singer and famed fiddler, perhaps best known for his hit song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008.

But he also writes frequently on culture and politics, no stranger to bold statements in defense of God and country, and maintains a “soapbox” blog on his website, CharlieDaniels.com.

For Daniels, the word “socialism” – synonymous in his mind with the big-spending, tax-the-rich, government-welfare, spread-the-wealth policies of President Obama and his fellow “progressives” – is a system not only destined for failure, but also inherently tyrannical.

“You cannot enforce socialism without some force,” Daniels told WND. “It’s a very top-heavy society, and every society that’s ever tried it has fallen, because you finally get to where there’s so many people, you cut out the work ethic, you make people think they have to be dependent on government for everything. It’s a mindset.”

Daniels brought up the recent controversy about Chick-fil-A restaurants – in which the Democrat mayors of Chicago and Boston threatened to ban the chicken sandwich makers from their respective cities because the owner is an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage – as an example.

“To me that tips off where these guys are coming from: ‘If you don’t agree with us, we don’t want you in our town, we don’t want you in our country, we don’t want you in our political system,’” Daniels said. “Is it not downright un-American for an elected official to stand up and try to destroy a business? As bad as we need jobs in this country?

“This is not about ‘gay’ marriage; this is about America being America, about people being able to stick by their deeply held religious beliefs and not to have these people trying to put them out of business,” Daniels said. “That’s what this boils down to: Are these people going to try to shut up everybody who doesn’t agree with them?”

Daniels told WND there have been a few people who have tried to silence him, too, to tell him to stick to his music and leave politics alone.

“People say, ‘Shut up and sing.’ Somebody said that,” Daniels said. “But shut up for what? Why don’t you shut up? What do you do? You do something else. You’re a private citizen. Do you think you should shut up? I’m speaking as a private citizen, so I think I have a perfect right to do that.”

And what about the owner of Chick-fil-A Dan Cathy and other Christians like him who are told to leave their religious beliefs out of the public and political sphere?

“That’s a bunch of junk,” Daniels said. “They need to stand up for what they believe in.”

Daniels’ fierce defense of free speech goes hand in hand with what he sees as the solution to America’s economic woes: not some new “socialist” program from Congress that leaves people looking to Washington, D.C. for answers, but a grassroots solution of small businesses, work ethic and a capitalist revival of the American dream.

“You’re talking to a guy who travels coast to coast and border to border every year,” Daniels told WND. “There are bad things going on in this country. Too many empty storefronts, too many closed down businesses – the ‘economic recovery’ Obama has been spinning is not happening. The only answer [socialists] seem to have for it is to try over and over again. Look at the results. Look at the results of throwing money down a black hole in Washington.

“We change the nation by putting people back to work again,” Daniels proffered. “I’m a Christian; I believe in helping people who can’t help themselves. I do not believe in helping people who can help themselves. Instead of putting them on the dole, put them on the payroll.

“I heard a while ago that more people file for disability than file to get a job. Where in the heck is that at?” Daniels asked. “Is that America? Is that what made America great?

“We need to get people back, to employ them,” Daniels concluded, “and it’s never going to be done in Washington. It’s going to have to be done in the private sector.”

How to Turn Paul Ryan into “Obama’s Shadow”

If there’s one man in America born for the job of debunking Obama’s myths and lies, it’s Paul Ryan.

As a political pundit, I have to admit my initial reaction to Romney’s choice of Paul Ryan for V.P. was surprise. Ryan won’t gain Romney Latino votes, or expand Romney’s base. And, quite frankly, he’s not the most exciting guy in the room. Ryan is a policy wonk extraordinaire and boy genius. But those are not ideal attributes for giving rousing speeches. Not surprisingly, my first choice for the job was Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

But, after a day of thought, my opinion has changed 180 degrees. Romney made a brilliant move – he found himself a Stealth Weapon. Someone that proves that Obama is a phony. Someone who proves that Obama is not the smartest guy in the room. My advice- from one former Vice Presidential nominee to another- is to capitalize on Paul Ryan’s unique brainpower and talents by turning Ryan into “Obama’s Shadow.” More on that later.

First, Romney made a bold move by not taking the easy road with a Pawlenty or Portman (“old white guys” just like him). He picked the architect of the GOP Congressional budget plan- the ONLY plan by any politician that at least attempts to slow the growth of spending (although I believe Ryan should have gone even further). Picking Paul Ryan embraces cutting government spending as the centerpiece of Romney’s campaign. He’s not hiding from controversy, or what Obama’s socialist cabal calls “radical ideas.” Romney is going for it. To be blunt, I didn’t think he had it in him. Bravo.

The image Team Romney has created is simple and stark- vote Romney/Ryan to at least try to control the size of government, cut spending and debt, reform entitlement programs to save them for future generations, and encourage small business to create jobs…

Or stick with Obama/Biden and choose pure insanity – embrace even more spending, more debt, bigger government, and keep demonizing and punishing the small business owners that create the jobs and actually pay for all government programs. Keep telling them “the private sector is doing fine” while you raise their taxes and ruin their businesses, and keep demoralizing them by telling them “You didn’t build that.” Voting for Obama is like killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

Romney has laid down the gauntlet. Like the heroic firemen running into the burning World Trade Center, Romney ran towards the tough choices, controversy, and claims by liberals that “women, children and elderly will starve.” Romney doubled down. Again, I just didn’t think he had it in him.

Romney’s choice of Ryan also shows that his strategists made the decision that this election will be won in the “Heartland of America” with Midwestern values. The Midwest has been ignored for decades. Midwesterners are starving for attention. This is a brilliant move. This is a battle cry for every Midwestern, Catholic/Christian, suburban, hunter, fisher, NASCAR/NFL lover (especially if you love the Green Bay Packers), “married with kids” American voter. There aint no foolin’ around here.

Romney will win this election by out-raising and out-spending Obama to bring out record numbers of those dissolutioned by Obama’s lies and divisiveness- white, middle class, Catholic/Christian, suburban, married, and those voters who regardless of race, religion, or location, believe in those values that have made America the greatest nation on Earth. The choice of Ryan as V.P. makes it clear that if you vote for Romney, you won’t get something for nothing, money doesn’t grow on trees, and the way to solve a debt crisis is not with more spending and debt.

Romney is gambling that the battle will be won in the Midwest- Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa (with Pennsylvania thrown in for good measure). Can Romney sweep those states? Ask Governor Scott Walker, who passed major union reforms in Wisconsin and then won his recall by a landslide. Congressman Paul Ryan has won by landslides year after year in a pro-union, heavily Democratic, Wisconsin Congressional district. Ryan knows how to win over moderate, independent, married with children voters who hunt, fish, and go to church on Sundays.

But most importantly, as a former Vice Presidential candidate myself, I have advice for how Romney can put Paul Ryan’s brainpower and policy wonk talents to use. Earlier today I watched Congressman Ryan on YouTube debating and making mince-meat of both President Obama and Congressional leader Debbie Wasserman-Schultz on the topic of Obamacare. This guy is seriously smart. As in “boy genius” smart. So here’s my advice…

Turn policy genius Paul Ryan into “Obama’s Shadow.” Send Ryan to criss-cross the nation to shadow Obama’s every move. Wherever Obama speaks, Ryan follows- in the same town, only hours or a day later. Ryan’s job is to intelligently rebut everything Obama says. To call Obama on his fraudulent math. To expose Obama for the phony he is. To show by comparison that Obama is only a good talker, but he’s not as smart as advertised. Ryan really is the smartest guy in the room. Put him side by side with Obama to prove it.

Ryan will expose Obama as a phony- in the same town, and on the same local evening news. Ryan proves that Obama is full of hot air. Ryan unmasks him as a teleprompter reader with no understanding of the nuts and bolts of the budget. Ryan turns Obama into “the emperor with no clothes.”

This is Paul Ryan’s role of a lifetime. He is the brightest policy wonk in America. Unleash him to use his intelligence and mastery of facts to hound Obama and debunk Obama’s tall tales. If there is one man perfect for framing in detail how Obama’s ideas have damaged the U.S. economy and killed jobs, it’s Ryan. If there is one man who can paint the devastating picture of what happens to our children and grandchildren if we follow Obama’s plan for another 4 years, it’s Ryan.

YouTube the video of Ryan schooling Obama about the lies and math fraud of Obamacare. Ryan clearly knows more about Obamacare than Obama does. My educated guess is that Ryan knows more about every issue than Obama does.

How You Can Become an Illegal Alien for Fun and Profit

This is an actual letter from an Iowa resident sent to his senator, Tom (dung heap)Harkin (Democrat)

Dear Senator Harkin,

As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you. My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted.

If my understanding of this bill is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for only three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am eager to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I’m excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as ‘in-state’ tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver’s license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me, given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance

Famous One-Inch Punch

Any fan of martial arts movie legend Bruce Lee will remember his famous one-inch punch, with which he was able to strike an opponent from extremely close range and send them flying.

Lee was undoubtedly at the peak of his physical potential, but research has now shown his ability to punch so hard from so close could be better explained by his brain structure than his strength.

Brain scans have revealed that fine-tuned differences between the neural structure of expert martial artists and fighting novices could be the reason that the one-inch punch is possible.

Black belts are able to punch incredibly hard from close range but studies have found that the force generated is not determined by raw muscular strength, suggesting factors related to the control of muscle movement by the brain might be important.

Researchers from Imperial College London and UCL looked for differences in brain structure between 12 karate practitioners with a black belt rank and an average of 13.8 years’ karate experience, and 12 people of similar age who exercised regularly but did not have any martial arts experience.

The researchers tested how powerfully the subjects could punch, but to make useful comparisons with the punching of novices they restricted the task to punching from short range – a distance of 5 centimeters (roughly 1 inch).

As expected, the karate group punched harder, but the power of their punches seemed to be down to timing, rather than their strength: the force they generated correlated with how well the movement of their wrists and shoulders were synchronized.

Dr Ed Roberts, from the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London, who led the study, explained: ‘The karate black belts were able to repeatedly coordinate their punching action with a level of coordination that novices can’t produce.

“We think that ability might be related to fine-tuning of neural connections in the cerebellum, allowing them to synchronize their arm and trunk movements very accurately.”

Subsequent brain scans of the test subjects showed the microscopic structure in certain regions of the brain differed between the two groups.

Each brain region is composed of grey matter, consisting of the main bodies of nerve cells, and white matter, which is mainly made up of bundles of fibers that carry signals from one region to another.

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) scans found structural differences in the white matter of parts of the brain called the cerebellum and the primary motor cortex, which are known to be involved in controlling movement.

The differences measured by DTI in the cerebellum correlated with the synchronicity of the subjects’ wrist and shoulder movements when punching.

The DTI signal also correlated with the age at which karate experts began training and their total experience of the discipline.

These findings suggest that the structural differences in the brain are related to the black belts’ punching ability.

“We’re only just beginning to understand the relationship between brain structure and behaviour, but our findings are consistent with earlier research showing that the cerebellum plays a critical role in our ability to produce complex, coordinated movements,” added Dr Roberts.

“There are several factors that can affect the DTI signal, so we can’t say exactly what features of the white matter these differences correspond to. Further studies using more advanced techniques will give us a clearer picture.”

The findings are published today in the journal Cerebral Cortex.
