Dove Finds Mixing Business and Race Dangerous

On April 22, 1800, Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to William Hamilton. Within the letter was the famous quote: “I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. During the whole of the last war, which was trying enough, I never deserted a friend because he had taken an opposite side…”

The quote referred to Jefferson’s travel to Philadelphia to take the Vice Presidential oath of office on March 4, 1797. He said that many had come by to congratulate him – but many friends and acquaintances did not, owing only to political differences.

Yet as bad as Jefferson thought it was then, it is far worse today. These days, differences in religion and political views can get one hurt or worse. And it’s not just individuals. Sports teams and businesses are finding out that it’s better to steer clear of the caustic mix of business with politics.

However some corporations are wading in, trying mostly to curry favor with the socially progressive left. They are attempting to capitalize on what is today thought to be trendy. But they are discovering how dangerous it can be from both sides of the political spectrum.

Target stores took a major hit from the right when they announced their transgender bathroom and dressing room policy. And now Unilever, the makers of Dove products, are seeing a socially-conscious ad campaign backfire big time with leftists. read more

If You Don’t Blame Guns You Want People to Die

We don’t even have a full accounting of what happened in Las Vegas, or even what motivated this sick individual. But no matter – the gun control nuts came out almost immediately blaming the NRA and anyone who advocates for the Second Amendment and gun ownership. If after this you still think guns are not the problem, you must just want people to die.

Video Podcast – Enough with NFL Social Justice

by: the Common Constitutionalist

At this point, NFL players, coaches, owners and executives deserve to be bashed by fans – including the President. You brought this on yourselves with your phony virtue signaling and hand-wringing.

America is the greatest country on Earth and this country and all your fans have afforded you the opportunity to play a GAME for a very good living. Now you want to bite off the hands that feed you and call it unity.

Well, we’re not buying what you’re selling. And it’s evident from the ratings and stock prices of the networks which broadcast your games. None of us go to games, or watch football to be preached at by the likes of you. Protest on your own time. When you hit the field, just shut up and play. read more

A Little Justice comes to College Campuses

It’s been a busy news week, with headlines being dominated by the ridiculous flap over the NFL and their spoiled and apparently oppressed players – who are also part of the 1 percent.

If you had little interest in that, there was also the unsurprising stand-out victory of Judge Roy Moore over Luther Strange. Congrats to Alabama voters for not buying the bullcrap Strange, Trump, Pence and McConnell were selling. Although I believe Trump was sold a bill of goods and Pence was obligated to “have his back.”

But this is what elections are supposed to look like in America – where the good guy wins – or at least the better guy. Mo Brooks what the best guy – Judge Moore, the good guy – and Doctor Strange, the establishment villain. He’s not a real doctor. That’s a play on words.

But through the noise of the headlines, there was an important and little reported event that happened recently regarding higher education and beating back the politically correct takeover of American colleges. That is, if it’s not already too late.

Late last week, lacking much fanfare, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, figuratively tore up  the Obama-era “rules on how colleges should deal with accusations of sexual assault and issued new interim guidelines on the hot-button issue.” read more

The NFL has Allowed a Lawless Precedent to be Set

The NFL social justice protest crap is completely phony. It’s the same virtue signaling we see from leftists all over the world. And at this point, the silly grade school stunt is solely being driven by peer-pressure.

If you’re black and don’t protest, you’re an Uncle Tom. You’re not down with the struggle. If you’re white and don’t participate, or at least sympathize with those who do – you’re a racist Trump supporter. These are the only two boxes available to be checked.

So what are these geniuses protesting anyway? Colin Kaepernick, the NFL originator, began kneeling to protest police brutality. Standing up to police brutality has been adopted and included in the list of demands of the 10 page extortion memo drafted by four players to the league.

May I ask where these players have been? Is police brutality a new thing ushered in over the last few years? No it is not. It’s no bigger a problem than it ever was.

And how do I know this? I know this because if it were, leftist news sites like CNN would be falling all over themselves to report it. read more

The spineless NFL has been party to its own demise for a while now. Professional football has been the pre-eminent sport in America for years, far outpacing the MLB, NHL and the NBA. It’s grown at such a pace as to cause many to believe it too big and certainly too popular to fail.

Well, it may be too big to fail completely, but popularity is a fickle mistress.

Viewership is down for a variety of reasons. Fans, particularly the younger set, are simply not watching traditional network TV.

“Americans under the age of 30 now watch almost 50 percent fewer hours of traditional TV than they did in 2010,” reports the Atlantic.

There is a dearth of heroes taking the field – many less stand-out superstars than in years gone by. They’ve been replaced with overcompensated mediocrity. read more

The Kardashians Reap What They Sow

It seems that one of the Kardashian family is hitting back at “fat shamers.” “Khloe Kardashian was incensed as she was met with a barrage of abuse on Sunday by cruel social media trolls, who accused her of wearing baggy clothes to hide her recent weight gain,” writes the Daily Mail.

In case you are unfamiliar, I will attempt to explain – although I don’t keep up with this crap either. I believe fat shaming is the practice of taking to social media to complain about, draw attention to, or make fun of someone famous, who has gained weight, is naturally rotund, or just kind of normal looking.

It most often happens to females of Hollywood . Evidently, the comedian, Amy Schumer has been repeatedly “fat shamed” by social media trolls. Although I don’t care for her comedy and can’t stand her leftist politics, she appears to be “normal” looking. But she’s a comedian, not a model. Unlike the Kardashians, she didn’t become famous by virtue of looks alone. Schumer looks lime a normal American woman – not like the plasticized Barbies that Americans are evidently enamored with. And heck – now that I think about it – most supposedly “perfect” starlets and models aren’t perfect at all. Most of what we see is, to some extent, photoshopped to wipe away their imperfections.

It’s all phony, which is why, at least for me, this story leaped off the screen. It’s the rich irony that one of supposed beautiful people, could be assailed by her followers so easily. But hey – you reap what you sow. read more

Huckabee Sanders Guilty of Unmasking ESPN

For Years Rush Limbaugh has said that quite often, the mainstream sports media is even more liberal than are their news media counterparts.

And this is no more conspicuous than the management and on screen personalities at ESPN.

It’s evidently just fine with ESPN for their employee, Jemele Hill, to call President Trump a white supremacist, but heaven forbid any of their people espouse a viewpoint other than leftist.

And worse than Linda Cohn being suspended for pointing out the obvious – that ESPN is losing audience due to their leftist politics, Kurt Schilling fired for espousing a conservative view, or the overreaction over Anthony Frederico’s “Chink in the Armor” statement, is someone daring to point out ESPN’s hypocrisy.

This however, may be lost on ESPN, as it is with all leftists, for I don’t believe the term hypocrisy is in the liberal dictionary. read more

Video Podcast – Ben Shapiro Speaks – No One Riots

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Conservative Commentator, author and all around smart guy, Ben Shapiro, was finally given the opportunity to speak on the campus of UC Berkeley a couple of days ago.

The run up to, during and after his speech was an expensive and logistical nightmare. All so one conservative could give one speech on an ultra-liberal college campus.

Shapiro says it cost around $600,000 for police to protect the event. Because of the heavy police presence, it went off with few problems. Think about that. This was a single speech given by a single conservative. It wasn’t a gathering of conservative thinkers – not a round table or conference. It was one guy.

Unlike previous Conservative speakers, Shapiro, and the campus, was afforded the protection necessary for the speech to go off virtually without a hitch. read more
