Podcast – It’s a Social Justice Weekend

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Yes, it’s an all social justice podcast, as I discuss Nike’s decision to promote Colin Kaepernick and his bogus “Stand for Something” platform. I explain that while this may seem like a bad business decision, it really isn’t. Nike understands its target audience, and it isn’t those guys burning their shoes.

In part two of social justice weekend, I discuss the reboot of the `90s television series, Party of Five. But this time around, it’s decidedly NOT all-American. What a surprise, that a Disney channel would promote illegal immigration. read more

I Must Disagree with Mollie’s Dad

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Mollie Tibbetts’s dad, Rob Tibbetts, wrote an Op-Ed for the Des Moines Register this past Saturday. It was heart-felt and obviously written by a Dad who adored his daughter and wishes to shield his family from further pain.

That being said, this may be the most ill-advised article I’ve ever written and will probably land me in some hot water, but I none-the-less feel compelled to write it. So here we go.

Rob Tibbetts writes that, “At the outset, politicians and pundits used Mollie’s death to promote various political agendas. We appealed to them and they graciously stopped. For that, we are grateful. Sadly, others have ignored our request. They have instead chosen to callously distort and corrupt Mollie’s tragic death to advance a cause she vehemently opposed.”

I get that, which is why it’s difficult for me to publically disagree and take issue.

First, there are dirtbags on the right who really are died-in-the-wool white supremacists and racists, and wish everyone who isn’t white to get gone. That’s too bad, but this being a free country, they have every right to their own opinions, no matter how vile. read more

Podcast – The Fad of Environmentalism Must be Waning

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

There’s an article posted on Campus Reform.org entitled, “Prof touts ‘ecosexuality’ as ‘environmental activist strategy’”

It’s the latest attempt at trying desperately to keep people engaged in the green movement.

So the left’s new attempt is the invention of romancing the trees.

Does Ron DeSantis Really Deserve Such Condemnation?

Have you ever given a speech or even just been talking to someone, and all the sudden become tongue-tied? So much so that you end up mixing two words together or even two phrases? Well, in my opinion, that’s what Republican Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis did, when he uttered the now infamous, “Monkey This Up.” It’s obvious, to me at least, that he combined “monkey around” and “muck this up,” but you be the judge whether or not he is a white nationalist, racist, colonialist, or just a guy who got tongue-tied.

GOP nominee Ron DeSantis said ‘monkey this up’ and the left went berserk. You already know why. read more

Cultural Appropriation is Evidently not Flattering

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Unless you are a democrat trying to beat a conservative Republican in a Senate race.

It’s said that “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” That is, to imitate someone is to pay the person a genuine compliment.

Take for example the modern day British Royal Family and in particular, the lovely Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton – wife of Prince William. Ever since her engagement to Wills, she’s been the envy of England and the Western World.

Her hair, her clothing, shoes and jewelry – everything she wears becomes an instant classic and is sought by her female fan base. It seems not five minutes after she is seen in something new, fashionistas are searching the web for knockoffs. Throngs of women want to look and dress like Kate.

And last I checked, she doesn’t seem the least bit upset by it.

However for many, particularly leftist minorities, such imitation is not considered flattering, but cultural appropriation.

Wikipedia defines cultural appropriation as, “the adoption of elements of a minority culture by members of the dominant culture. It is distinguished from an equal cultural exchange due to an imbalance of power, often as a byproduct of colonialism and oppression.” read more

Bridezilla Asks Guests to Pay to Attend Wedding

And here I thought Canadians were such nice people.

from the Daily Mail:

A disgruntled bride-to-be has revealed she was forced to cancel her extravagant ‘fairytale’ wedding after her guests refused to pay $CAD 1,500 each to attend.

The Canadian bride, who is known only as ‘Susan’, was due to tie the knot with her childhood sweetheart in a lavish $CAD 60,000 ($46,020) wedding.

But the couple decided to call off the ceremony just four days before exchanging their vows after they struggled to foot the bill.

Taking to Facebook to explain their decision, the furious mother-of-one blamed her family and friends for the breakdown of her relationship as she vented her frustration in a lengthy post. read more

Should Trigger Warnings be Required on all Conservative Correspondence, Writings, Podcasts, Broadcasts and Classroom Syllabuses

Recently the College Fix found a conservative college professor.

I will expand on this, but I’d like that first sentence to sink in a bit – a conservative college professor. They are as rare as the critically endangered northern hairy nosed wombat, of which there are only 163 known.

Now that I think about it, there may be more northern hairy nosed wombats.

But the College Fix found one. His name is Professor Duke Pesta. He’s an English professor at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. And how about that name – “Duke.” He has to be conservative.

About a year and a half ago, Duke felt the need to draft a two-page contract, “to counter the trend of infantilizing college students when it comes to academic debate and the free exchange of ideas on campus.”

His class involves the study of literature from days gone by, and as such, may contain content that today’s students may find offensive. read more

Video Podcast – You can put a Price on a Human Life

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

And that price is not nearly as much as you might think.

Last Saturday, lil-Chelsea Clinton spoke at a #RiseUpforRoe event in New York, where she and other pro-abortion leftist women rallied against Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Today I discuss what she said and why it is just so absurd, and frankly just wrong. read more

WND Exclusive – CHICAGO IS A GANG-BANGER’S PARADISE

The Chicago Tribune reported that a man, “who lives on the West side of Union Avenue,” in Chicago was awaken by gun fire. It was around 2 a.m., when along with what he described as seven or eight shots, he also heard doors slamming and the screeching of tires.

What he heard was the attempted murder of a 31-year-old female trying to escape a situation in her GMC Yukon. She was shot in the head as she tried to speed away. The woman was taken to “University of Chicago Medical center, where she was in critical condition Wednesday morning.”

Oh, you must have thought I was reporting on one of the 74 weekend shootings in the Windy City this past weekend. No. This was one of the additional 16 shootings, including seven more murders committed from Monday to Wednesday, making a five-day total of 90 shootings and 19 murders. read more

Boys Can’t be Boys and Girls Can’t be Girls at Harvard

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Political correctness and gender neutrality have hit new lows and it’s no surprise that it is being achieved on a college campus.

The Harvard Crimson, the school’s official news site, is reporting that, “Harvard’s chapter of the Delta Gamma sorority is closing its doors — making it the first single-gender group to shut down in response to the College’s social group penalties.”

Yes, Harvard fraternities and sororities are being forced to go gender-neutral.

Other than the obvious, why the heck would any guy want to join a sorority? And certainly no girl would have any interest in joining a previously all-male fraternity. Unless of course she is a radical feminist whose interest is only tearing things down and fighting the scourge of toxic masculinity. Other than that, no self-respecting young woman would join. She would instead opt for a sorority, like has been done since sororities began in 1851. The first being the Adelphean Society at all-girl Wesleyan Female college.

Back then they were not called sororities. Adelphean was known as a secret society for women. Others were classified as women’s fraternities. The term sorority wasn’t adopted until 1882. read more
